Re: Selecting future mount
Second everything Geoff has stated!! I too have a G811g in my backyard observatory. Plan to add a C-8 to the stable later this year knowing it will fit easily to the 811 when I need a mount to carry

Re: Selecting future mount
Hi Gary, and welcome! I have the GM811G and am very pleased with it for visual and my beginning ventures into AP work. As you know, Losmandy rates it for up to 50lbs OTA weight, which they say is good

Re: Selecting future mount
There is no such thing as "one mount to handle all your future needs" If you ever plan to get a scope > 40 lbs, just get the G11. For a "portable" mount, wait a year or two and get one of the harmonic

Selecting future mount
Hi, Thank you for letting me join the group. Before I ask my question, I¡¯d like to give you some background information. My interest in astronomy began some 50 years ago when I was in high school.

The Gemini Twins: Two G11Gs at Once
All, I've finally got things where I want them. This spring, I pier-mounted a G11G inside my SkyShed POD with a MallinCam VRC10-CF riding atop as a counterpart to a slightly older G11G on my rolling

Re: Gemini Power Supply Aids in Balancing G11 via Current Readout
Very nice, Russell. That simple hanger bracket is clever and effective. I'm glad you are getting good use from the increased motor torque and the digital aid to balancing the axes. All the benefits

Re: Gemini Power Supply Aids in Balancing G11 via Current Readout
Recently I fashioned a metal fixture to allow hanging the Herman power-booster from a screw on my G11's permanent pier. This is a photo from a few years ago showing the pier in the corner of my veggie

Old style servo motor(s) needed
I dropped one of my old style servo motors (original) - of course it landed on the pinion and the motor no longer works (internal damage). So in the likely event that I've messed it terminally I need

Re: Just got to shout out, RA EXT
I bought the set, but ended up replacing them with comparable Delos (3.5, 4.5, 9, 14 mm), a 22 mm Nagler 2, and a 41 mm Panoptic. I wear glasses, so the eye relief in the Delos line worked way better

Re: PHD Guide 2 - Predictive PEC Settings?
Not using PEC became my main periodic error is the 32 second one from the gearbox, which isn't an integer multiple of 240s.
