LOL... Sonny, lead acid and gel batteries will just get real hot if they short out, if you have open cells they may leak hydrogen gas that can flash off, you wont even see it. BMS stands for battery

That is one issue with Lithium Ion, they are fast discharge batteries, that act just like energetic materials when they short out.If you buy one make sure you get one with BMS protection that shuts
