Re: First WIKI entry
Bob I also wanted to say kudos. I believe your wiki is the first on this forum. It made me realize what an underutilized tool that is. The wikis are editable by all in the group and your post is one example of an information share. I know Paul and Rene and others put a lot of effort into Gemini-2.com and we should not be all sitting around waiting for them to update it for Level 6. Your wiki should be an inspiration to all who have useful information to take the time to sit down and write it out for all of posterity.?

First WIKI entry
Based on the interest in mounting systems for mounting various accessories, including counter weights, as discussed in the topic "Balancing Scope", I have created a WIKI to describe some of the various mounting systems I have used to add and mount various gadgets and capabilities to my scope.
The WIKI is titled?NATO Rails & Clamps and other Telescope Accessories Mounting Systems. Feel free to provide feedback. Bob |
Re: Balancing Scope
With the below mod I'm able to balance my Dec axis. The 3rd axis counter weight balances the electronic focuser, 50mm finder scope and the Star Surfer on the opposite side of the scope.
I replaced the 5 lb counter weight knob with a Losmandy Tripod Knob. It has a 3/8" TPI 16 through hole. The shaft is a 3/8" aluminum rod with one end threaded (3/8" TPI 16). The black counter weight is from my Star Adventurer.?? |
Re: Balancing Scope
I got some PMs regarding these accessories.? So, continuing this thread, I put together a WORD doc (in PDF) with more information and some pictures of the individual components.? I might turn this into a WIKI page.? In the mean time, attached is the document.? Feedback is welcomed.

G11G On Primalucelab C120
I finally have what I believe to be the main rig for my future ROR observatory. The adapter plate on the pier is for an EQ8R, that was all that was in stock. I was considering that as an option anyway. It has a center 1/2" hole so adding 6 more holes was not a big deal. It is extremely rigid with no perceptible vibrations when it is banged.

Re: Light-Weight Tripod Turning Dark Purple
