Re: Pole master on G11 with Digital Drives
this seems to be hit and miss. i just tested 5 polemasters they were all in focus out-of-the-box software does not appear to calculate the star centroid. It merely accepts your double click location

Curt - Here is a link to my AB gallery. Every narrow band image there was taken from my backyard, Bortle Class 6: https://www.astrobin.com/users/HegAstro/ Recent examples are the Jellyfish Nebula (

Re: Pole master on G11 with Digital Drives
For those of us who like to use the PoleMaster for visual use QHY has updated the app for Android. This gives you the ability to go observe without a laptop yet still achieve perfect PA and nail GOTOs

Re: Pole master on G11 with Digital Drives
FWIW, my Polemaster was NOT focused correctly as received. Also, in addition to unscrewing and removing the outer barrel you need to loosen a tiny setscrew on the side of the lens assembly to allow

Re: Returning to astronomy and thinking about a Losmandy mount
Curt, If you get a new G11G, I would strongly suggest getting the RAEXT extension kit. This allows the mount to be easily split into two pieces with just the two thumbscrews. It's a little pricey but

Re: Pole master on G11 with Digital Drives
You are welcome. I had to admit, your story puzzled me so much, that I took the Polemaster from my astro equipment storage and tried to install it on this inside computer. I had never installed it

Re: Pole master on G11 with Digital Drives
Thanks Michael, that's way different than Apple. I suspect I only downloaded the Polemaster software not the driver. I'll follow your guidance and let you know how it goes! Thanks again. Tom ---

Great question, Richard. I downloaded and installed the Polemaster software which I thought would have included the camera driver. I followed the same steps I did on the MacBook and everything worked

Re: Pole master on G11 with Digital Drives
Hi Tom, Calm down.... the Polemaster is a slight challenge. First of all, you must be able to connect it to your PC and get it to be recognized... no sense even putting it on the mount until that

Re: Returning to astronomy and thinking about a Losmandy mount
It is always a good idea to get a mount one step higher than you think you need. I also debated between a GM8G and a GM811G. Having purchased the GM811G and used it for a couple of years now, both as

Re: Returning to astronomy and thinking about a Losmandy mount
Yes, the G11 is heavy. I can attest to that as I keep one by my bench to try motor mounting hardware on. I smacked my shin on it twice before I learned to put it under the bench where I can only stub
