Benjamin, ?hello from downunder do you have and can use an EEPROM programmer? ?You can do it yourself. Otherwise there are repairers in Australia (myself), UK (David) and USA (Michael) who can do

Losmandy G11 mount-Gemini 1
Hi! After several years I have now moore time to use my astro equipment again. I have a Losmandy G11 (bought in 2004) with Gemini 1 (Version 3). Shall I upgrade to level 4 and how do I do this? Is

Thanks Brian.

Re: How Long to Run PEMPro?
I usually run it for an hour. There is diminishing returns. 5-6 cycles is the min for reasonable data. Brian Brian Valente portfolio brianvalentephotography.com

How Long to Run PEMPro?
Is there diminishing return on running PEMPro 7 or more worm cycles?? I have an evaluation version of PEMPro that runs for 30 minutes.? This gives me 7 worm cycles of correction data.? Ideally I
Re: PREVIEW: Part 2 of Periodic Error Correction: Mount Setup
Hi Rin beginning You might be thinking if calibrating for guiding? Bumping north is not necessary here as we're not guiding. Brian [email protected]> wrote:

Re: PREVIEW: Part 2 of Periodic Error Correction: Mount Setup
Looks good - But oftentimes told to go a little north in dec for backlash before beginning? Or Best to stay on equator? I see as you perfectly showed that it really is an eyeball of orthogonality

Re: PREVIEW: New Tutorial on calculating your Image Scale
Another reason you want to use the main scope/camera is that the larger sensor area of the main camera will usually allow for more drift before the star being tracked will fall off the sensor. -Ray

Re: PREVIEW: New Tutorial on calculating your Image Scale
Hi JIm In your case, probably either is fine The general recommendation is that you use your existing imaging setup so you can avoid the inconvenience of reconfiguring your telescope setup,

Re: PREVIEW: New Tutorial on calculating your Image Scale
I need to clarify.? Yes; you need to use your imaging scope.? I am not taking about PHD2 guiding.? I used my auto-guider (QHY-5L-II) for PEMPro PEC training and my 630mm scope last week.? Are you

Well, glad to hear I wasn't the only one that got caught by the Auto calculate period check box. I thought I was going nuts, kept changing it to 239.34, but it kept going up. Finally saw that the box

Re: PREVIEW: New Tutorial on calculating your Image Scale
Local astrometry is even easier Andy Galasso over at PHD built Ansvr and a wizard to walk you through downloading the relevant catalogs - just install and go, no build

Re: PREVIEW: New Tutorial on calculating your Image Scale
Great video! The start and finish are awesome! Very informative, I don't know if you need to add this but you can install http://astrometry.net/doc/build.html locally, on your imaging computer and it

Re: Maintenance
The PPEC auto adjust period option in PHD2 is a tricky thing I think they originally designed it for people who didn't know the period of their mount, so it would "figure it out" I've often found it

Re: Maintenance
Thanks. Well, I guess I can't blame my poor guiding on the lube then:P RA was getting quite bad all of the sudden, and I was scratching my head trying to figure out why. Dec was just peachy. I think

Re: PREVIEW: New Tutorial on calculating your Image Scale
Great question - I covered this briefly, but to clarify, you really want to use your imaging scope. Recording your PEC data has nothing to do with guiding. -- Brian Brian Valente portfolio
