Re: Ovision worm gear assembly does it have a spring washer...may be mssing on mine
Hi Greg, I think that your Ovision's worm gear endplay is not getting set correctly and there is no preload on the worm bearings. I don't have an Ovision worm because the original 2-piece worm

Re: Problem with mount
I recently found that with my G11 if the RA worm is too loose or has too much backlash that I get motor errors lag ....with new Gemini II conroller...So it needs goldy locks adjustment not too loose

Ovision worm gear assembly does it have a spring washer...may be mssing on mine
Hello In October of this year I bought a used Losmandy G11 with an ovision worm gear. I am unable to get the performance out of the gear at the RA axis. I'm getting phd rms numbers of .9

Re: Problem with mount
Thanks everyone for your input. I have my mount apart inside and I've found a few things. I probably did have the gearbox mounted off-axis when I replaced it the other day. Inside, comparing the

Re: Problem with mount
From your description, I'm pretty sure you have not got your worm axis lined up with your gearbox output shaft axis. So when the gearbox shaft turns, it is moving the Oldham pieces, and the gearbox

Re: Problem with mount
Hi Joe Maybe can turn the worm by hand (with maybe an adapter) to see if the worm has a tight spot? You can remove the Ra/DEC motors from the mount and run them connected to the Gemini ....just like

Re: Problem with mount
Joe, 12 years of service is pretty good. But I would remove the motors and the covers on the worms. Then, with the scope package off the mount and the mount balanced, manually turn the worms -

Problem with mount

Re: COUNTERWEIGHT SHAFT SAFETY SCREW - THREAD SIZE?
Hi Gents Don't forget there is a database of screws and what not in the files section https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/Losmandy_users/database. This is a useful resource but is only as good as

Re: California grease
I remain pretty confident that all of the mount's major bearings should be solvent cleaned and lubricated with a pure synthetic grease like SuperLube which I mention so often. I also suggest

Re: Help with DEC backlash/jumpy guiding
It has the RA of the Titan, so if PECprep has the Titan listed you can use that. The G11T has the tucked motor on the RA and DEC judging by these

Re: Help with DEC backlash/jumpy guiding
This is meandering off topic from the original thread, but the secondary PE of 42 seconds seems to consistently show up in more than one G11T so I suspect it's an error intrinsic in the design

Re: Help with DEC backlash/jumpy guiding
Hi guys, The PECprep program has entries for the G11, but not the G11T...far as I know. (it's open source... entries can be added). Your calculations of how the G11T behaves look sensible, but
