Re: M51 & M101
Thanks Henk, I can definitely go a lot longer than 10 secs autoguiding if there is no wind. For high altitude objects, I can usually get an RMS of between 0.8 and 1¡± for the 12¡± Newtonian with no
Re: Gemini-2 momentarily went haywire
I think it's more likely a loose connection if an encoder was bad, it would happen every time. The encoders won't "lose signal", but rather than encoder disk is marred in some way -- Brian Brian

Re: Mount is Unparked when power is restored
Hi Edward you might doublecheck the startup mode is "Ask if possible" if you have it on autostart in Cold, Warm, etc. it will startup without asking -- Brian Brian Valente portfolio

Mount is Unparked when power is restored
Hi, I have my gm811g mount constantly powered up and in a parked position. ?Recently I lost power and when the power came back, my mount was no longer parked. ?Is this normal behavior or should the

Re: Losmandy Polemaster adapter in Podcast
Ah, yes. Can see where that would work. Have PM face away from clamp, instead of over. Thanks!

Re: M51 & M101
Nice images considering the wind.? I have a 12" F/4 Newt astrograph too and am currently working on getting the autoguiding under control.? Wind is definitely an issue, I had 1.5" RMS last time I

Re: Gemini-2 momentarily went haywire
That is true....if the Gemini does not sense the motor optical encoder wheel move it will keep sending motor power to see if it can move it...and the motor will appear to run away. It could have been

Re: Gemini-2 momentarily went haywire
Ok, contacted and was sent troubleshooting tips.? Either cable, connectors, or motor. The challenge is that I haven't reproduced yet.? Last night I did many many slews while giving the cables some

FINAL-Definitive Answer regarding Start
Ok, seeing mixed messages regarding Start commands here on Losmandy User Site and what is printed in Gemini manual. What I have read here on this users group is: Warm Start:? For permanent locations

Re: 492 question
Ummmm. The Gemini units are spec'd to allow from 12V to 18V for higher torque. But the 492 units are not. They use 12V stepper motors only. The older Hurst motors are stamped 12V on them. I have the

M51 & M101
I've been playing around with my ZWO 071 Pro cooled CMOS camera, and have been experimenting with stacking many short sub exposures (only 10 seconds). I used high gain on the camera (240) with my

Re: 492 question
Low power causes the 492 to blink. Note that the AC to DC power source sold by Losmandy has an output of 15v at 4.3amps. John

Re: Losmandy Polemaster adapter in Podcast
John If the PM/dovetail doesn't fit on top of the dovetail you can, if the dovetail of your scope has enough overhang, reverse the PM/dovetail where its upside down. It'll still work but takes some

Re: Losmandy Polemaster adapter in Podcast
Thanks Chuck. Looking at the ADM the dovetail bracket might just be small enough to fit under my C925 with a Losmandy counterweight bracket in from of that. I imagine it would need to be aligned with

Re: Losmandy Polemaster adapter in Podcast
John Look up polemaster dovetail. It's ADM. It shouldn't matter if scope and polemaster are co-linear, I guess, but as you look at the ADM one there are the three screw holes for the three PM screws.

Re: Losmandy Polemaster adapter in Podcast
Chuck, Was that ADM or QHY brand? There should be a way to fine tune alignment after attaching. The ADM looks like it has three screw holes in the back, but I'm not sure if they are for attaching or
