Tx500 and js8call asisstance #js8call #flrig

I would really appreciate any assistance with my problem of gerting js8 up and running with my portable rig. So, thank you all in advance!

Tools:

Pc: Raspberry pi

Codec: Digirig 1.6(?) Bought with programming and cables for Tx500

Rig: Tx500

Programs: Flrig & Js8Call

Situation:

Using Build-a-pi and following direction, i have been attempting to build a field operable digital station for, mainly, Js8call. The digirig is programmed for the Tx500 and the cables are connected properly. I am operating remote with an ipad (mini i think). Flrig can Tx and it seems to Rx too on 7.078 and 14.078; but, when i open Js8Call i get errors. The errors are as follows:

Error in sound output - an error opening the audio output device has occurred.

I will attatch pictures. Now, not only do i get that output error, but there are no signals in the waterfall display telling me that the input is in error also, to which i think is in the program end because the rig shows receiving signals on its spectrum. I attempt to select audio devices in the settings but the dropdown menu will not open, as if there are no options, and stays blank.

I have attempted to change the options on the pi around by right-clicking the audio on the home screen and switching them up, no change. Ive messed around with multiple settings and hardware but cant seem to fix the issue.

If anyone has any suggestions or insight, i would be very grateful.

Thank you all

I realize this doesn't solve your problem, but I have gone thru three different Raspberry Pi's (Zero W, 3b, and 4) in an attempt build a robust, modular, field station and everything was an uphill battle. Trying to troubleshoot basic problems was a headache, there is very shoddy documentation on everything, etc. I did make them work, barely, but in an offgrid or portable situation if internet wasn't available and something stopped working I'd be ruined. They are great if you like projects that require a lot of tinkering, but can make you pull your hair out if you just need it to work!

All that being said I sold all my RasPi's and bought an Evolve III Maestro from MicroCenter for $60 and have had zero problems since...

I get it, i have thought about going that way; but, the portablity and power of the pi fits my goals. Once i get the programs running fine, i will just clone it into a few more sd cards to just do a quick swap if something funky happens. I already have it running without internet. Flrig works fine with operating the tx500 remote through a tablet. It is just this one issue and it should be golden.

Thank you for the suggestion though!

I use a pi for my shack, mobile and and portable all running KM4ACK build a pi.? I don't use the digi rig so I can't help you there.? Maybe ask around on KM4ACK group.? Are you using the pi 3 or 4?
