CW-500U Paddle

I only see the direct-attach CW-500 paddle at HRO for US sales. Any idea if the CW-500U will be available in the US too? I'd like to attach the key with a cable instead of directly attaching it to the radio. It would be nice f the base was magnetic for easy attachment but I'm not sure that's the case.

Norm,

I use a Begali Adventure iambic key. It sounds like exactly what you are looking for. The Adventure has a magnetic base, or you can detach it and mount it with screws. It's running about 268 euros. All of my keys are Begalis, but this one is a really good QRP key that works with my KX3 and TX-500. I love the magnetic base on it. Anyway, just a thought in case you'd like to look at it here's the link .

built my own extension for the lab599 key

Nice job. The key I'm interested in is less expensive than the one made for direct connection to the TX-500 and can use a detachable cable with 3 5mm plug at the key end, which I like. How do you secure the base when using it. Too bad it doesn't have embedded magnets.
