MX-P50M HF amp setup

 

Just made my first contact to Toronto using the MX-P50 amp that I use with my Yaesu 817ND. I purchased the necessary cables for the mod from W2ENY in addition to Anderson powepoles.

Congratulations.? I managed a few contacts this past weekend with my TX500 driving an Elecraft KXPA100.

Could you please tell me which pins on tx-500 you used to connect to the amp ?

remove all pins except for #2 and #7 from a 7-pin gx12... for keying the amp, polarity is not critical, but i use pin 7 as ground

Thanks alot, so basically DATA port on tx-500 is used and pin 2 (PTT OUT) and pin 7 (GND) is used.
 

Is that an LDG Z100Plus tuner in the photo ?

That will depend on whether you want to use CAT control or not. I brought all my connections out.

As i am using digirig for digital comms, i guess i will have to make an extension for the DATA port and tap into those 2 pins, hopefully digirig will not have an issue with that.

I made this b4 I got the Digirig. If not using the amp, I use both the Digirig leads, but if using the amp, I use this adapter with a double ended audio lead for data and the Digirig lead for CAT
 

Thanks alot for the info, i will wait for the gx12 plugs to come from china and wire it all up
 

Shouldn't be a problem.
