Re: Firmware update cannot find the USB
Did you do a power on reset after firmware upgrade? Glad to help by the way! John N7ROJ On Sat, Apr 17, 2021, 18:00 Glen Jenkins WB4KTF <wb4ktf@...> wrote: Hi, |
Re: Firmware update cannot find the USB
Hi,
Yes, I did get a response from John at the LAB599 Service center in USA and he sent me a link to a YouTube video on how and where to find the old drivers.? Problem is now fixed. I upgraded to Version 1.05.01 and NOW I cannot hear CW Sidetones.? Sorry to bother the group again, but where do I get the CW Sidetones to come back on? I can see the CW on the VSWR/power meter, but there are no audible tones. Glen - WB4KTF, Austin, TX USA |
Re: Firmware update cannot find the USB
I use the old version PL2303 in a some homebrew projects here (unrelated to the TX500); with Windows 10 64 bit version, I found it was necessary to uninstall/remove any driver PL2303 Windows 10 tried to install on it's own, then manually install the old version PL2303 driver (I believe 1.5.0 but the driver from LAB599 would work too), then "disable automatic driver downloads" (a setting in Windows 10). This worked (that is, stayed operational across reboots and shutdowns) UNTIL I did a feature update for Windows 10, at which point I had to repeat this entire procedure as the feature update evidently brought with it the automatic-but-nonfunctional driver. Has you tried manually overriding drivers with ones provided by lab599? If this fails, i can send you old (2008) drivers that works with olded PL2303 chips, i use them pretty often on win10. Should probably work with HXA too. |

Re: Firmware update cannot find the USB
I went to a different PC at home and I do see the Prolific USB to Serial converter plugged into Port and it is labeled as COM 3, yet when I open up the "LAB599 updatefirmware" installer, the COM port selection is empty, there are no COM# listed, it is blank.

Firmware update cannot find the USB
I cannot get the firmware update application to function on my new Windows 10 Pro PC.
The Programming cable USB port does not appear on my Ports (COM & LPT) in a useable form.? I see an error message:? "PL2303HXA PHASED PUT SINCE 2012. PLEASE CONTACT YOUR SUPPLIER".?? When I plug the programming cable in a USB port I do hear the typical Windows sound that it recognizes the USB device, but I cannot find the device ex. COM 3,4,5,6, etc, on the 'LAB599 updatefirmware' program window.? Only my ICOM and Yaesu COM port drivers show up (COM #). The application:? 'checkChipVersion_v1006 cannot find the Programming cable, either. Glen - WB4KTF, Austin, TX USA |

Re: Matching TX500 Power Amp/Tuner - DIY599 PA500
?Julian, Thanks for your information.? I look forward to your post and video on the PA500. I am excited about getting one of the PA500 to try with my TX500 this summer. 73, Henry - K4TMC On Sun, Apr 11, 2021 at 2:20 AM Julian OH8STN <survivaltechnord@...> wrote: Hello guys. |
Re: Matching TX500 Power Amp/Tuner - DIY599 PA500
Hello guys.
I removed all the risk and ordered one for myself. I'll do a blog post on it based on actually having it in my hands, unlike that other website mentioned in this thread. Diy599.com is legit. Oliver does this for passion, not for money. With all that said, I have beaten the heck out of this amplifier for about 3 weeks. Testing with the Icom IC 705 and the tx500 on FT8, js8, einlink vara 2750, ... It's pretty freaking incredible! My initial plan was to buy the Hard Rock 50. I believe this is superior and a much better value. PA 500 will be featured in my tx500 update video, in the coming days. 73 Julian oh8stn? |

I was looking for a light weight tuner to pair with my TX-500 ( it arrived yesterday and works great!) and came across a Z-Match, the ZM-2 from Emtech, . Looking more, a found that there is a ZM-4 available from , in Germany, that is very compact and it covers down to 160m.? It will match both symmetrical (low imp loops aand dipoles) and asymmetrical (end fed wires). I bought mine (ZM-4 ATU) as a kit but have not gotten time to build it yet. With shipping and currency coversion it is around $125 and about a month to get here to Wisconsin. Size wise it is about the length from the left side of the TX-500 to the right edge of the display and about an inch longer than from the bottom of the tx-500 to the top and approx the same thickness. The? case is extruded aluminium and the parts mount on a nice circuit board so it appears it should be rugged. Check out both if you want. I have no affliiation with either place but just wanted to make the new community aware of these. I am sure there are many other light weight designs too. 73, Glen? N9FBG |

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýI placed an order in mid-January, and just received my radio today!!!? From what I can tell, and I contacted both Ham Radio Outlet and LAB599 early this week, a large shipment just arrived.? When I talked to HRO, it seemed like this shipment was expected to fulfill all back orders, with some remaining for inventory. ? I made 2 successful QSOs this evening hunting POTA activators. ?
