Please welcome Mark to the group. His father Walek Jaworski and his family came from Chylin, nr Stolin in Polesie. They were transported to the Russian camps, Vitunino, near Archangel - Released and traveled to Persia. Walek joined the 8th Army where he fought in the battle of Monte Casino.
He is still alive at 85 and has just been awarded the Knights Cross Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland.
Attached is Walek's story from The Wiltshire Times which makes very interesting reading.
Mark has lots of information about the family history and he says he will share this with us.
Also Mark says that Walek's neighbour and best friend from Poland was Telesfor Sobierajski who has drawn many pictures of their travels and wrote the book Red Snow.
I look forward to reading your posts Mark. I see there is a Walerian Jaworski from Polesie on The Wall Of Names of the K-SVM who had written a school essay in 1942 about deportation.

Kind regards
