I am the web master of aforgottenodyssey.com
Through the meeting of my father John Roy-Wojciechowski and Stefan
Wisniowski I decided to help by creating the web site with Stefan.
Stefan (and others) provide me with the information needed and I just
turn it into HTML.

What I would like to propose to the group is the forming of a database
that is connected to the web site. I would be willing to create the
database and interface it to the web site. However being a technical
person I would need ideas on what fields would be required in the
database and how to search for information. A field would for example
be a surname, city, date etc

So my question really is, as the end user what information would you
want to find in the database and what fields would you want to search
on?

Hello Steve and many thanks for your offer. Off the top of my head (and it isn't feeling too bright this afternoon - must be all that excersing, at the gym, that I have just started) I suggest:
Surname
Area (being town, village, etc.) where the person came from
Date deported (perhaps month would be better here)
Camp assigned to
If I think of anything else I will contact you.

Thank you for your generous offer and thanks to Barbara for her
suggestion. Would it be at all possible to be able to, say, type in a
town name and then have information about that town - some ideas
would be history, number of people deported, where they were deported
to, etc, as well as photo links)? Also, a database with all the names
of the camps with corresponding info could be a useful link, as would
the different associations throughout the world related to our
cause/subject.
Not being a technical wizard it always amazes me how this sort of
thing appears on our screens and I will be truly in awe of anything
that is created.
Don't know if it's at all feasible given my location, but I am happy
to edit/proofread any info before it goes to that great satellite in
the sky. Again, not being a Polish speaker/reader I am at a
disadvantage where it comes to collating information but if I can at
all help, this is where my expertise lies.

This kind of a database would depend on the size of webspace you've got
a good search script in Pearl or CGI would take a whole lot of room
