You may have already seen this very interesting article on compensation for
properties of the people dislocated from the Kresy when they were taken over
by the USSR after WW2.

It is from the Warsaw Voice from 1 April 2001 (no, it is not a "Prima
Aprilis" - April Fools Day joke).

Here is my translation of Wladyslaw Czapski's note regarding compensation
for his family property which was confiscated by the communists in the
Kresy.

Ja mam prawomocny wyrok Sadu Okregowego we Wroclawiu z 1996 "Zobowiazujacy
Skarb Panstwa do zwrotu mnie mienia "zabuzanskiego"

I have a binding judgement issued by the district court in Wroclaw in 1996
requiring the State treasury to return my estate from the former eastern
Poland (Kresy).

Kancelaria Premiera Polski napisala mi: "Departamen nie jest w stanie podac
terminu, kiedy to nastapi"

The Office of the Polish Prime Minister wrote to me saying "the department
is not in a position to give a deadline when this will happen."

Kancelaria Prezydanta Aleksandra Kwasniewskiego nie udzielila odpowiedzi na
moje pismo.

The Office of the President Aleksander Kwasniewski does not respond to my
letters.

We also have a large amount of land that was taken away from my family in Podole and Wilno districts
but so far all we get is silence from the respective Polish and Lithuanian State Departments, I can sympathise with Wladyslaw on this subject
