offer to assist anybody in the group seeking original file information on their deported families from the former Soviet archives. Alexander is on the "Polish Committee" of the Memorial Society in Moscow - which is a group acting in the cause of the memory of the millions of people repressed by the Soviet system. I believe that the main file he has access to is from the Archangel archives, but there may be other sources on other regions as well. -- Stefan Wisniowski Moderator, Kresy-Siberia ---------- From: "Alexander Gur'yanov" <gurpolcom@...> |
Hi Alexander,
Thank you for providing the opportunity to follow up file information on deported family members. My problem is, and maybe someone else in the group can help me here, that a) I don't know where my grandmother was sent to in Kazakhstan b) I don't know her date of birth (though do know her father's name) and c)don't know the date she died. Anyone else in a similar situation who has had some success with finding out the seemingly impossible? Alexander, do you have any databases that could hold clues to Zofia Pundyk

(from the house of Stratkowska), who was taken from Kolomyja in 1940 to a camp in Kazakhstan, where we believe she died? As she had a son in 1921, she was probably born between 1880 and 1905. Her husband was a sergeant in the Polish army, but was not there to be deported - he somehow ended up in Scotland. -- Stefan Wisniowski Moderator, Kresy-Siberia From: grace@... |
