Thank you for this - what an amazing story.? You are in the group!

There was a group of Poles who was sheltered in British India during the war
(Pakistan did not exist as a separate country yet).? Sounds like your family
may have been part of this courageous group.
?
Do you have any idea of where these people would have lived before the war?
Where any of them were born or baptised?

Cindi, there are a few routes to find out about what may have happened.
1.? Hoover Institution - (Irene, on our list, can you help?)
2.? Polish Committee of Russian Memorial Institute (Alexander, are you still
with us?)
3.? British Army Records Centre.? You really should write to them ASAP and
ask if they have any records, at:

The Ministry of Defense
Army Records Centre, POLISH SECTION
Bourne Avenue
Hayes, Middlesex, England UB3 1RF
PHONE +44 208-573-3831 FAX +44 208-569-2751

Provide the following info:
- Surname and Christian names
- Date of Birth
- Place of Birth
- Names of Parents
- Service details (eg, Polish 2 Corps/Anders Army, possibly Polish
Resettlement Corps)

Good luck.
- Stefan

Hi! i would love to get into a group like yours. You see, my father and his
parents lied about being POWS through Russia. THey always told us they got
here before the war broke out. Only after my father died 4 years ago, did my
great-aunt and great-uncle tell me all they could. I know they were in
Africa and I think Pakistan. The last names would be Kaczmarczyk and
Konieczek. My great-grandfather Bartholomew Konieczek died during the war.
My uncle Thaddeus Konieczek and Aunt Sophie Konieczek(or Syczewski, I don't
know if she was married yet) served in the Army, Polish Army I think. I
don't know much else, although I would like to find out all I can. These are
the ancestors names that I do have:
Stanley Kaczmarczyk, Sr.
Stanley Kaczmarczyk, Jr.( who was also in the army and very sick at one
point from what i hear almost died)
Rose Wisniewski
Victoria Strzelecki-sp?
Batholomew Konieczek
Josephine Konieczek
I have so far that they came to Canada through England in 47 or 48.
I live in Greensboro north Carolina, but just moved here from Western Ny.

Thank you for your time,
Cindi Gibson
