I have been having problems to make work my gps when I use my raspberry pi 4B connected to a external USB SSD hard disk. It seems to see few satellites status, but does not fixed. Different situation when I boot with a micro SD card, it get fixed with no problem.
?
I have changed all USB ports to boot the SSD hd but it is the same, never get fixed and only with cgps -s only gets few 2 to 5 SATs but does not get fixed. I have tried Gps update tool, etc..
?
Any help is appreciated.

When in use, the RPi USB ports put out a lot of RF noise that interferes with GPS reception. If you use the slower (not blue) USB ports it is a little less noisy. If you use a long USB extension cable and get your GPS further away it helps. Even better is if you use your phone GPS with GPSD instead of a dongle. Not only will it work better, it's one less thing you have to take to the field.
