Will be fixed(?) next release of WSJTX

Just an FYI:?Jason's entire suite (full install) performs perfectly for me
even on a plain Raspi3, it does not need to be the 'B+' version.

I am able to even run WSJT-X and GridTrack simultaneously, which was
not possible with the older GridTracker release.

CPU temp hovers near 60-C, with no apparent problems for more than 2-weeks
of 24/7 operation.

Jason, I'm still running a Pi 3B+. Will 3.03 run ok on this older model?

Thanks again. 73.

Hi Mike,

I'm glad you managed to install it!

Hi Daff,

EDIT: I was able to install it from file manager (just like windows) by right clicking on the file and opening file and was then asked if I wanted to install it! Worked and my problem?seems to be resolved with the 2.2.1 version as I suspected! Then used the hold command and that said it worked also...

?Thanks for the quick reply!
I got the file wsjtx_2.2.1_armhf.deb? into the download area and navigated there in terminal and executed the command sudo apt install ./wsjtx_2.2.1_armhf.deb
and got the following:

pi@raspberrypi:~/Downloads $ sudo apt install ./wsjtx_2.2.1_armhf.deb
Reading package lists... Done
E: Unsupported file ./wsjtx_2.2.1_armhf.deb given on commandline
pi@raspberrypi:~/Downloads $?
?
So I am not sure what to do here...

I am a complete noob on this command line stuff.

Appreciate your help.

P.S.

You can also download v.2.2.1 for your laptop from the link I sent in previous email. Just pick the right package for your laptop's OS.

Hi, Mike!

Get armhf version from here:

Then open a console (terminal window) in directory where is v.2.2.1 and install it via this command:

sudo apt install ./wsjtx_2.2.1_armhf.deb

It will overwrite v.2.2.2 with the old version.
If it is successful, then it's good to mark v.2.2.1 not to be updated via scripts, etc:

sudo apt-mark hold wsjtx

If later there is a new version with the corrected bug then unmark the package:

sudo apt-mark unhold wsjtx

There is an issue with WSJT-x ver 2.2.2 running WSPR in band hopping mode. It crashes! It also does it on my Laptop running the same version. I had an older version on another pi as well as an older version on my laptop and they both work fine.?

My problem is that I can't find an older version for the Pi. ver 2.2.1 which works ok on both machines. When I search for add/remove programs on the pi, it only comes up with the latest 2.2.2.?

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Hi Jason
I did a re-install of BAP this afternoon and all the issues have gone away.
CONKY is up and running as is VNC?
I'll stick with this for some days to ensure its robust.
Thanks for your suggestions

Are you able to start conky from the ham radio category of the pi menu? If not, open the terminal and run conky. Post any error messages you see.

Also, run
bash ~/pi-build/diagnostic
and follow the directions. I'll see if I can figure out what's going on.

Hi Jason
The reboot killed CONKY. It didn't come back up!

Bruce G4ABX

A reboot should clear up the conky issue. There was a change in the way conky is started in 3.0.3 but I don't think that should cause a freeze.

Morning all
BAP 3.03 has been up for circa 20 hours. No repeat of my Wifi issues.

CONKY 'froze' after 11h 14m 43s.
The Pi is still showing the correct time but CONKY is not

I'm not sure if this is related to 3.03 or not? I didn't have a CONKY freeze on BAP 3.02 but that may be coincidental.

I guess a re-boot will fix it?

Are there any logs that might be of use before I reboot?

I, too, upgraded PAT Menu using BAP 3.0.2 and lost Winlink capability as described in the link below:??

"There has been a bug found in 3.0.2 & 3.0.3. If you update Pat Menu using the build a pi script, you will lose your Pat Menu config file."

If it happened to you, go to that link to see the very easy way to fix it.

Mark,

Thanks Jason
I'll do as you suggest.
I read the change log? and couldn't see anything that might be responsible for the WiFi issue.

Bruce G4ABX

Bruce,

There was nothing in 3.0.3 that should have messed with the wifi. I think this is just coincidental. One suggestion might be to disable the hotspot using hotspot tools. Reboot and then enable the hotspot. I ran into a similar issue once and this seemed to "reset" things. Also, if you aren't actively using the hotspot and the pi is in the shack most of the time, you can also leave the hotspot disabled. This will prevent it from running.

To see what was changed in 3.0.3, check out the

There has been a bug found in 3.0.2 & 3.0.3. If you update Pat Menu using the build a pi script, you will lose your Pat Menu config file.

I will get this resolved in 3.0.4 which we are already busy working on. For now, either copy your config file to your desktop so you can restore after updating Pat Menu or write down your settings before updating so you have a reference point.
