all Messed up?
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýI hope everyone had a very nice 4th of July... I have been having problems with my RPi(4B 4G) and build-a-pi (V3) since before FD.? I think my FT8/FT4 problems were related to the FT4 issue others have seen during FD.? I later found an issue with voltage and overclocking. After FD (using
my Mint laptop for digital modes), I went back and wanted to
resolve my PAT "problem".? I ask about TELNET, before FD and
got an answer that would work if I had the HTTP page running.?
I figured out how to get the HTTP page running for the PAT
mail, but I am not sure why it isn't running ("PAT ACTIVE" is
active ??).? That got me closer to having PAT working
(connecting and sending mail).? Band conditions may be my
problem, now with PAT.? SO, thinking I
needed to re-build my OS, I re-build my microSD card.? Now the
GPS wasn't running on CONKY.? GPSMON though, has a full load
of sat's.? This is when I found flrig does not show as
installed.? WSJT-X is installed but does not run. (doesn't
show on HTOP, either).? ADD/REMOVE software does NOT show
flrig as installed.? Using A/R, I did load and can run flrig
(A/D also added fldigi).? I tried downloading wsjt-x 2.2.2 (it
would not install). I also noticed no temperature on CONKY.? BUT, "vcgencmd measure_temp" gives me 42.0C.. NOW, since I was trying to get FT8 to run faster for FD, I had been trying overclocking.? To, setup overclocking: sudo apt
full-upgrade? and?? sudo rpi-update? were run.? I have since found that in order to get overclocking to work at 2000, I needed to? set over_voltage=6 (not 4). I have used the overclocking OK with ubuntu mate v20 and wsjt-x, OK.? (I do need to figure out a USB, issue - but it ran). I am wondering, because "full-upgrade" (etc) will load new (stable) OS "stuff", something has changed where CONKY is looking for data?? It doesn't explain why flrig would not load or why wsjt-x would not run... BTW, I am using a
12V in "Power Board" for power and using a SSD to boot (OK).?
Also boots from microSD.? (SSD re-builds quicker)

Steve,
Try getting the system up and running on a stock configuration. Once you have it running correctly, then try moving to the next step. As it is now, I can't say if your issues are from installation problems, running from the SSD or some other issue trying to overclock the system. Start by installing the OS and then run build a pi on the SD card. Verify everything works and backup the system. Once verified & backed up, move it to the SSD and confirm it still works. Backup the system. Next move to overclocking if you wish. This process will allow you to figure out that each steps works before progressing to the next and will make it easier to pinpoint what is causing issues for you. There was a recent issue discovered with FLRIG not installing correctly. This has been corrected in BAP 3.0.1 that was released yesterday. -- 73, de KM4ACK

I am back running with a basic BAP V3.02... Everything seems to work. I do find a "bug" noted at the end. The GPS works, OK. I am using [u-blox 8], see: The GPS was working with the USB3 SSD enabled (not boot device). See: and 120G disk (metal case): The GPS stopped when I started using an Anker 4 port USB3 extender: and a SanDisk microSD adapter: (I removed the USB3 SSD disk). I needed to re-boot to restore GPS display. I could not just remove the USB3 extender... "BUG" ... I have wifi turned off. I would not expect to see 10.10.10.10 as an IP address ?? I will now see if/when I can duplicate my "all messed up system". Possibilities are; I had tried 64 bit OS and I am not sure I wasn't using that microSD. (I keep the mSD's in anti-static bags that I label. I get interrupted...). It could be related to boot from SSD. Or overclocking. Both use "sudo apt full-upgrade and sudo rpi-update. The SSD code requires a sudo apt install rpi-eeprom and a sudo rpi-eeprom-update. I would expect the eeprom updates to be permanent and still be in effect with the current working system? I will see when/if it fails... 73, steve WB3LGC On 7/5/20 8:58 PM, km4ack wrote:

If a known SSID is just out of range, you would see the 10.10.10.10 address. This is the hotspot that the pi generates when no known SSIDs are in range. ? -- 73, de KM4ACK

the {UP/DOWN} arrows at the top show: eth0: configured 192.168... (OK) and wlan0: STOPPED. ?? I checked my tablet wifi scan and HotSpot does NOt show... steve On 7/8/20 7:39 AM, km4ack wrote:

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýAll, I have "things" running, 32 Bit OS <verified>. How can I check OS ??? I may have been running the 64 Bit OS. RATHER than
overclocking, I am using force_turbo=1 See: My next "thing to try" is to go from mSD to SSD...
