Shutdown & power off

I realize that the Pi shutdown process is fast. But is there some time 'safe' time period that I should wait after performing a shutdown until I power off??

Tom??

The green activity light flashes 10 times (about a half second in between) then stops flashing when safe.
If you have a Pi4, and you use the command shutdown -h now, it will power off the red power LED too.

Thanks, Kevin. That's good info that I didn't know. But my Pi4 is in a case where I can't see the LEDs. Jason's recent one-button shutdown video made me think it would be nice to add an external circuit which would power off the Pi after an appropriate delay. There have been quite a few times when I performed a shutdown and forgot to power off. Only to come back hours later and find that the Pi is still powered on.?
Tom??

I would wait 15-30 seconds (about the same as boot up, in most cases) but it might be a good thing to poke a hole, to see it. Another option (on my 3D printed cases when I first started) I used a piece of thick fishing line superglued to the activity LED and fed out an opening (like a light pipe)...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J22fCKgOAYs
