Very respectfully,

Scott Reutter

KM4ACK actually had me put it there. ?I think it works too because I can transmit APRS texts via dire wolf and Pi APRS

Jason, what is the significance of the port u told grant ant the 4563???

That statement (PTT RIG 2 localhost:4532) points to hamlib. If you run rigctl -l | head you will see that we are pointing to rig 2.

Happy to report that it's an antenna height issue! ?I went to the site of the gateway, transmitted at 5W, and it worked flawlessly. ?Backed it up 5 miles, then 10, and kept increasing power. ?Finally lost connection a few miles from my home (total distance is 17 miles). ?So, I either will get a VHF radio amplifier (pricey for 160W!); or ask HOA if I can somehow put an antenna on the roof. ?:)

Jason, THANK YOU for all of your help these past several months!

OUTSTANDING!! Glad you confirmed it is working. I got the test message :-)

If you have the ability, you might try HF/ARDOP to overcome the line of sight limits of 2M.

Attaching the pinouts for data, and also cat if you need it. ?My audio cables go to the data. ?I'd recommend using Les at - he's made a number of high-quality cables for me.

Here's the ?if you want to make your own.

?should also work.

Give me a shout if I can help further.

All the best,

I do have a rig control cable, yes, that runs from the pi to the 857 (through my YT-100 tuner). ?This is the cable I use:?https://www.amazon.com/Valley-Enterprises-FT-100-FT-817-FT-857/dp/B0035DV1ZM

If you can't readily find the cable on HamMadeParts, recommend you email Les and ask him to build you a custom cable. ?He'll respond within a day and based on what radio you're using, and for what purpose, he'll identify exactly what you need.

Grant, what did you do to solve the PTT error?
