Fixed low voltage warning on my Pi systems with a cable upgrade

Most of my power supplies for my Pi3B, including the official Raspberry Pi power supply were giving me a low voltage warning and the measured voltage out of the Pi3B was about 4.6V.? I had to use an adjustable USB power supply to get it turned off by boosting the output voltage to 5.5 V.

?

On a whim, I bought some USB to mini USB cables that are made from 20 ga wires not the 24-26 ga wires that are common.? This fixed the problem and now allows me to use the power supplies that were previously too low on voltage.? The voltage drop on the USB ports on the Pi is unmeasureable.

Works for me¡..

Which "Power supplies" are you using, as I am having the same issue

Lots of different power supplies.? Ones like the official Raspberry Pi and USB power cubes of different manufacturers and amperages.? This obviously only works with power supplies that have a USB socket on them.? The wired supplies can't use the heavier cable.? When the lightening bolt is on or now the message of low voltage appears, your Pi performance is severely restricted.

Hi All

Many ways to feed the pi.

To get rid of that dreaded lightning bolt and lower power warning (and associated poor performance)?
I feed the one or two Pi¡¯s that seem to do this, with an additional power feed through the USB port

Thanks! Yep that is the problem, not the supply in most cases. I couldn't find that cable before.?
