HamClock Update

Hi,

Running RPi 4b-4 BaPi 3
Originally installed HamClock via BaPi.

When I start HamClock, it goes through it's normal startup then presents its "New version 2.48 is available.? Update Now?" screen.
I chose 'Yes' but update is not successful.?

So, I looked at the BaPi update.? That recognizes that it is installed and I tried checking the box and letting BaPi update it, but it does not.

Thoughts?

See this /g/KM4ACK-Pi/topic/75180050#509

Be sure to reboot after the update completes.

I tried the HamClock update from HamClock when I got the message and it runs but does not update.? I then ran the BaPi update checking HamClock and rebooted.? The update was completed.?

Thanks Joe and KM4ACK.? Joe's steps worked.? I tried that about a week ago and it didn't work.? Does now.

Thanks Again!

Jason, FYI, while the hamclock appears updated now, at the end of the BAP update routine (after the mv hamclock ....., I see the final lines with:

Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree? ? ? ?
Reading state information... Done
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.
sh: 0: getcwd() failed: No such file or directory
sh: 0: getcwd() failed: No such file or directory
sh: 0: getcwd() failed: No such file or directory

Is this expected?
I suspect I'm not using your latest build.? Should I start from scratch again (as flrig does not seem installed either via the build I'm on)?? Something else?

I suspect you are feeling this is growing into a monster -- welcome to development :-)

This is a good thing. It has pushed me out of my comfort zone and forced me to learn new things. That is always good!

There was an issue with FLRIG & FLMSG that was fixed in 3.0.1. The latest build is 3.0.2. You can easily upgrade with these commands.

cd ~/pi-build
git pull

Should that fail with errors, do this instead

cd ~
rm -rf ~/pi-build
git clone https://github.com/km4ack/pi-build.git

Once you upgrade to 3.0.2, the software will check for future upgrades every time the BAP upgrade script is run.

Very good, sir.

First suggested approach seems to have worked.

flrig is now installing.? Will test later.

Just a thought, and don't know if this is possible since I am not a linux guru, but I did retire from a career as a systems analyst (I was a process/idea man, and left the implementation to the coders). Possibly BAP could check for latest version at startup, and perform the git pull as needed. Also, it might be helpful to display the version of BAP on the splash screen. Like I said, just a couple of suggestions from the peanut gallery.

As of version 3.0.2, BAP will check for updates to the BAP script. Details in tomorrows video :-) The version number isn't on the splash screen but is on the second screen presented when running the update. Added a todo list item that will put it on the first screen as well. Thanks for the suggestion!
