FT-817ND and Latest Build A PI #flmsg

Finally got Buster installed and Jason¡¯s latest release of Build A Pi. ?I had some either bad or not good quality microSD cards. ?Finally got one that would take the Buster image and got my Pi 3b Plus up and running. ?I have it hooked to a Signalink which is hooked to my 817. ?Then went thru the steps to install Build A Pi, of course I did the full install! ?Went to bed and let it run thru the night. ?

Got all of the software configured and started testing. ?I did have to adjust the settings in Pat Menu for the soundcard. ?Had to change it from 1 to 2.?

Everything seems to be working properly. ?I made some FT8 contacts last night and this morning. ?I connected to Ardop and sent a message or two. ?I also ran the Pat Auto Connect and it worked. ?Still learning Winlink. ?Haven¡¯t tried packet yet. ?There are no packet stations close to me anymore on VHF.

i did run multiple apps while doing FT8. ?I ran the Grid app, Hamclock and of course FLRig. ?I just wanted to see if the Raspberry Pi could handle it.

i have thought about the Pi 4 but I hear they run hot! ?My Pi is in a case with a fan and generally stays around 40 - 45 C.

So far so good.

NICE!! Glad you have it up and running. Yesterday, I ran the new 8gb pi 4 for about 6 hours in the field. Outside temp was 94F. I didn't keep tabs on the temp of the pi but I didn't have a failure :-) I do run a fan on all of my pi 4's which does add a touch to power consumption.
