Re: Js8call program features too large to use
#js8call
Yea i set a few different resolutions and they dont affect the program features, just the entire resolution, which, size wise, im fine with.
Ill re-go over the higher res' again just to triple check though |
Re: Baofeng uv5r, Direwolf and YACC Not Transmitting
I¡¯ve never had any luck with any Chinese radios using VOX and anything packet, although the UV-5R and md380 are the only ones I¡¯ve tried. I ended up using my tnc-x TNC and creating my own cable. This worked great when I tried using Xastir but I haven¡¯t been able to do anything packet related for some time now. If a hardware TNC is feasible, here¡¯s the instructions to build a proper cable:

AX.25 Port Configuration for Pat WInlink on Pi Zero
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHey all,
I followed Jason's "Pi Zero Project" videos to build a Pi Zero headless setup. A great help for a newcomer to digital modes! No problems with initial install of AX.25 or Pat. All command responses followed the video exactly. After shutting the Pi down and starting up the next day, I have an error with AX.25 port configuration. pi@pizero:~ $ pat connect ax25:///WA6LIE-10 2022/02/10 21:33:10 Connecting to WA6LIE-10 (ax25)... 2022/02/10 21:33:10 Unable to establish connection to remote: No AX.25 ports configured My "axports" file shows one entry, equal to the output from: "echo "wl2k $CALL 1200 255 7 Winlink" | sudo tee -a /etc/ax25/axports" Output of "rfkill list" pi@pizero:~ $ rfkill list 0: phy0: Wireless LAN ?? ?Soft blocked: no ?? ?Hard blocked: no 1: hci0: Bluetooth ?? ?Hard blocked: noI'm sure it's a step or connection I missed. Custom forms in flmsg unreachable in browser.
Hi folks,
I'm having an issue with the Red Cross custom forms with in FLMSG.? You open them with the "Edit Form" button.? It opens the form in the browser opens, but after a few seconds it crashes in the browser and it says the site is unreachable.? It seems like it having trouble connecting to 127.0.0.1:8081 after the initial connection. Multiple builds, multiple RPI. Any ideas? |
IC-705 RPI4 Bullseye JS8Call
#IC-705
I'm struggling to get audio for my IC-705 and JS8Call on RaspberryPI (Bullseye) working. CAT control works fine (button turns green). The dropdowns for "Modulation Soundcard" in Settings are empty / have nothing to select. (edited)
Jordan Scherer (author of JS8Call) responded to someone with a similar problem saying "This is most likely a configuration issue in your system, specifically related to permissions."
I've googled everything I can think of regarding Linux and sound permissions, but no luck. |

Have you set a higher resolution for VNC desktop in the pi configuration?

Re: WiFi sensitivity w Bullseye?
the same here. I run a raspi 4B also in an ARGON40 with with BAP on Bullseye. The distance argon40 to the router is only 1m, but I loose again and again wifi connection. This maybe after several hours of work but also maybe after half an hour. The time to reconnect also is quite different between 10secs to some minutes. I will look for a wifi dongle and try with this.Klaus, DC2JR

Kevin,
The same RPI4 in the same chassis did the BAP build with a WiFi connection.? Hours of downloads. Never has a significant problem with the WiFi on this machine when running BAP builds on Buster and Buster based Ham-Pi.? Am sure the Argone case is part of the problem, but something in the BAP build pushed it over the edge. Have run a temporary ethernet to the machine.? Will have to redo some cables to make the installation acceptable and more cat proof.? Hope it will allow VNC to run as well. Mike |
Re: 64bit Bullseye and BAP install
For Comparison, I put 32bit Bullseye on the card, updated, then did a full install of BAP
Everything installed on the first attempt, including FLDIGI So there is something a little different with the way things are done with 32bit and 64bit Bullseye One thing that I know is different is the update that shows up in 64bit after the first BAP install attempt. No matter what I did with 64 bit, I could not get it to show the update icon before the first BAP install attempt. Thinking out loud, I am wondering if BAP gets installation of 32bit items, and then the update wants to update to 64bit for those things. I might be wrong (as I am often wrong :D ). |
Js8call program features too large to use
#js8call
I was hoping anyone could help me out a bit.
Im getting portable digital operations ready and, in such, i have a pi 3b+ with js8call on it. The program loads up fine and seems ready to test; but, the features in the window are so large that it is unusable. I cant, for the life of me, figure this out. I would really appreciate any help on the issue as Im hoping to be able to have this ready for a backpacking trip in a few months. Thank you all 73 |
Re: WiFi sensitivity w Bullseye?
I have an ArgonOne V2 case. I love mine, but they do have an issue with reducing WiFi signal strength (google it). I have one set on it's side (it's headless anyway) with the bottom pointing in the general direction of the access point. Works somewhat better than flat. It's probably because of the extra mass pointing down to the CPU and WiFi chips.

WiFi sensitivity w Bullseye?
Michael Starling
Did a full build w newest version of BAP on an RPI4 mounted in an ARGON40 enclosure with a 256gb SSD.? Everything went as well as one can hope for.? System worked on SD.? System worked on SSD.? 7100 works.? GPS a little slow to pick up enough satellites but that is not a BAP problem at all.? Kudos to Jason for making this easy.
Am seeing the WiFi dropping out much more than it has ever done.? Had it been this bad, the BAP build would never have run.? Argon fan is et to keep CPU temp to 55C or so. Any thoughts other than running ethernet?? That would be a bit of a challenge. Thank you! |
Re: Dual monitors?
Michael Starling
Did a full install with the newest version of BAP.? Came up nicely.? Both monitors work.? GPS is a little slow to sync ... not a BAP problem.? Transferred the system to the SSDD of my Argon40 and system acted as it did on the SD card.
Am seeing the wi-fi dropping out. |
Re: OS upgrade
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýEvery one of my attempted Bullseye upgrades has gone poorly.? Every one that worked I started from a clean install. Mike On 2/9/2022 11:03 AM, Tim and Janet via

OS upgrade
So yesterday I upgraded from Buster to Bullseye.? I saved copies of important files and proceeded with the?upgrade.? ?When finished the menu items were different and BAP update was no longer there as well as open office.? I can reload the open office but couldn't figure out how to get the BAP update back.? Of course AFTER finishing I saw where Jason recommended not doing it this way and starting with a fresh load..... So, is there an easy way to get this back how it was or should I just reload from scratch? Thanks. Tim KB2MFS? |
Re: Baofeng uv5r, Direwolf and YACC Not Transmitting
The baofeng cable you mention is TRRS. Is your sound card TRRS or TRS? If it is TRS, you may need an adapter to get this working.?
As a side note, you may find it very disappointing to use VOX on the baofeng for digital especially when it comes to APRS. After transmitting, the VOX is very (1-1.5 seconds) slow to return to receive. Because of this, the vast majority of responses to your packets will be missed. As an example, your digi transmits a message that is received by a mobile station. The mobile station will return an "ack" letting your digi know that the message was received. Because of the long VOX hang time, your station will never hear the ack. Using the baofeng as a receive only igate would be a better solution. As Phil mentioned, there are DIY cables that can be built to overcome this. There are also commercial solutions like the digirig -- 73, de KM4ACK

Re: Heads-up for Canadian Miady battery (or alternate!)
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHere's the one I made. I started here: Julian has a LOT of great information on portable and off grid
ops. The BMS is an APEX that I? got off . We 3D printed the top and bottom covers to make it safer.? The
copper top was a nice touch.? Some people use a large piece of
heat shrink to protect the exposed connections.? I still haven't
mounted the BMS but plan on tidying things up so it isn't just
flopping around.? I am planning to install it along with some
other hardware in a 50 cal ammo can for a go-box. Everything else is pretty much as OH8STN lists it. The cells are
sized 10Ah 38120.? The spacers and bridge bars come with the
cells.? Nothing seemed particularly hard to get.? I had the ribbon
cable, tiny 4 plug connectors, powerpole connectors, and the wire
already.? I just had to solder it together.? Watch those cells
when you're bolting them up, you don't want to short anything
together, they'll give quite a zap. mike On 2/8/2022 8:07 PM, Terry Hunt via

For 2M Winlink connections, you will need the following installed at a minimum:
direwolf ax25 pat pat menu For HF ARDOP Winlink connections, you will also need: ARDOP ARDOP GUI All of the above can be installed via Build a Pi. Before we can get into more details about configuration, which radio and sound card are you using? -- 73, de KM4ACK
