Re: #gps #bullseye #gps #bullseye

got this figured out... found a substream on here where, when using the update tool just enter "*" in the ip address... i was entering?the ip address for the raspberry pi... but when using the commands in the terminal window, it still wouldnt?work... i have a grid square now... and it's the right one. so i think i am good...?

Re: Multiple Apps using Sound Device at the same time

This is possible but an advanced setup. Try pointing one of the applications to the actual sound card and the other to "pulse". Then open pulse controls from the Pi menu and link the second (pulse) card to the actual sound card. I haven't tested this in a while but this should point you in the right direction. A little experimenting may be required to get the results you want.

Yes, possible & probable!

I should have looked closer.

Re: Workaround for Pi 4 "Lagging Chromium" and "Conky Positioning" issues #conky #Chromium

Dan,

Thanks for the testing and the detailed explanation. I have been extremely frustrated with Chromium since Bullseye came out. I never had this issue in Buster. I suspect it is something in VNC causing the issue and have been hoping a fix would be released. I swapped to firefox as my default browser. It's easy to install:
sudo apt install firefox-esr
then make it the default browser by running
xdg-settings set default-web-browser firefox-esr.desktop
I also changed some settings (can't remember specifics) in the /boot/config file to get conky to always launch on the right side of the screen.

Thanks again for the write up. Always great to see multiple solutions for a problem :-)

Re: BAP on Intel Linux?

Edited

IIRC, BAP is on github; it might well be as simple as forking it, and doing a search/replace to change the architecture specified in the scripts.

I might have a look myself when i have a moment.

(EDIT) - following up on Julian's observation on his attempt, the scripts seem to be mainly APT based, so it's likely to just be a matter of fine-tuning them rather than needing the fullblown architecture change I'd envisioned.

Re: Argon One case and poor WLAN

Both options will disable the on-board Wifi.
The Hotspot will use the dongle if it is available, as to hotspot auto-starting if there isn't a local wifi network, I haven't tested, but it does work manually.

RFI from raspberry 4B

Hello all,

My raspberry Pi is creating so much RFI that I need to switch it off to traffic... That bugs me and I am 90% sure that the culprit is the USB bus. As you all seem to be getting on well with your Pis, I must be doing something wrong...

My setup at the moment :
  • A small 5V switch mode supply that I bought to replace the noisy and underpowered supply I had before. I initially thought that it was the culprit but no it is not as if I run it alone I am fine...
  • The supply is directly connected to the appropriate pins of the GPIO of the Raspberry. That is still fine
  • Now starts the weirdness...
  • If I plug my RTL-SDR or my WIFI dongle into the raspberry USB port, I become deaf as horrendous RFI appears in the shack, it is like trying to have a conversation in a noisy night club, hopeless!!!
    • It doesn't matter if the raspberry is switched on or off, it still happens
    • If I use the USB 2.0 port instead of the 3.0 may be it is a little bit better but it still is terrible

I am stuck, any suggestion to make some progress is welcome...

Hi Kevin,

The one thing is,I want to disable internal wlan adapter, the 2nd, I want to use my usb wlan dongle also with Jason¡¯s automatic switching to hotspot, if there is no wlan available?

Create /etc/modprobe.d/brcm-blacklist.conf with the following content:

blacklist brcmfmac
blacklist brcmutil

Reboot, and WiFi should be disabled. You may find errors in the system log depending on what method you are using to configure the network.

Another option:
add:
dtoverlay=disable-wifi

to /boot/config.txt to disable wifi. I have tested it with a Raspberry Pi 4B. It is also valid for Pi4.

Agreed, I can program but I haven¡¯t used Linux enough to build something like BAP.

#lab599 #tx-500 #digirig #ardop issues #lab599 #tx-500 #digirig #ardop

I'm pounding my head against the wall here. I have a pi4 8gb, a digirig 1.6, and a tx-500 with the latest firmware 1.12.08. I have flashed a new image of bullseye 11 on the pi. Updated the pi. Ran the build-a-pi script to install Pat, Pat menu, flrig, and hamlib. I have configured flrig which works properly. However when I start the the ardop modem either using the Pat menu or CLI it totally locks up my pi. I downloaded a version from cantab.net/users/john.wiseman/downloads/ and it worked one time now it locks up again everytime I run ardop. Has anyone else seen this, am I missing something? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Build a Pi 64 bit Beta Testers Needed

Jason - I followed your instructions and that fixed my ARDOP problem.??

I use a CM108/119 based soundcard interface that uses the GPIO-3 pin for PTT.? Direwolf 1.6 does not support CM108/3.? It is supported by 1.7 beta versions.? I have been using 1.7 beta versions for a year with the interface and various versions of the Raspberry Pi. I replaced the BAP Direwolf 1.6 with the latest 1.7 and it seems to be working fine with the 64bit BAP beta.? Flrig plays well with the CM119/3 interface.

Very good to hear Julian =)?? I too use Linux OS computers at home and in the field =)?? I just wish I knew more about programming to help out =)

It would make an interesting COMMUNITY effort, I'm reluctant to bully Jason into supporting an additional platform.

Update Build a Pi. #bap

I have a Pi that I built about 2-3 years ago using your utility. If I rerun your latest code from Github will it install all the updates and retain all my settings for the various applications? For e.g. FlRig, WSJT-X, etc. etc.

Re: #gps #bullseye #gps #bullseye

I flashed a new card and tried on pre bullseye version of pi os. I can¡¯t get it to work over that nor hotspot. I don¡¯t have a vpn running. Saw something in the group chat about that port possibly being blocked. How can I figure o what is blocking it and where? Tried through WiFi, the wired IP address and hotspot. Ran the BaP update tool and tried again. Still can¡¯t get gps data to go. Double checked video so GPS2IP settings were exact same as yours, other than IP address. Checked it was toggled on.?

How can I ensure that port is not blocked??

thanks!
