Re: Fldigi baud rate on 2m FM

Steve

I used a AX25 terminal via BPQ32 software. I know when I ran that software there were some USA Operators that were using Fldigi as an engine to communicate. I also sent pictures as a new operator via VE7LAN-7, it took forever to text.
?There are NBEMS user in PA who use repeaters. If I remember?correctly you need a tone to key the repeater and to stop before Time Out kicks in.?

I would be interested in testing but I live on the south slop?over looking the Queensboro bridge and my IC 705 just doesn't have the power to hit the MT Seymour repeater (Digi)

Hi,

This topic may not be the best match for this group but in hopes someone out there is using Fldigi on FM (maybe on a repeater) then if you have any pointers it would be great!

I'm going through Jason's great series here:?. I?just got Fldigi running in Mint, on the famous Evolve laptop, with a Digirig and an HT; the radio PTT works great and so all looks good. ?
?
I' tried a local digital repeater here (VE7LAN) that notes on their site: "It will repeat any 1200 baud packet data it receives, and transmit at a consistent deviation,?regardless of the input."? I think MT63-2000L has baud rate of 100 so nothing got repeated.? I'm pretty sure this repeater will not work work for :)
?
I think AX.25 Packet Radio will do 1200 though???
?
Any tips?
?
Thanks, Steve

Re: Fldigi baud rate on 2m FM

Thanks very much Brian!

I'll look into Soundmodem and Direwolf but will first see if I can go with just using my Digirig and a few command line calls in the terminal (kissattach and kissparms)... I'll use this for inspiration:

Re: Fldigi baud rate on 2m FM

Packet radio means AX.25. FLdigi does not support packet radio.? Soundmodem or Direwolf? are the go to packet software modems. Yes, standard packet radio is 1200 baud.

Have been calling up hamlib with the following, but I think it would be better to have Fldigi control the rig because it would be easier to change rigs.? Don't know how to configure it to work with Fldigi.? Was also looking at wfview to control the radio but that locks me in the ICOM world:
?
? rigctld -m 3070 -r /dev/ttyUSB0 -p /dev/ttyUSB0 -P RTS -s 19200
?
I realize the 'RTS' probably shouldn't be there because IC-7100 can't be controlled with 'RTS'

Re: 73 Linux

I run both IC 7100 and IC 705.
?
Have set up the Pat Menu for Rig Control > Yes?
Have you done ls /dev/serial/by-id to ensure you use the right sound codec??
Are you using FLrig for PTT?

Re: 73 Linux

From my Debian box I had PAT controlling the IC-7100 all except TX.? Even the tones were going over the air if I keyed the microphone now I can't get anything to talk to anything.

Re: JS8Call 73Linux unmet dependencies

Got it resolved. Error messages gone.?

Re: Evolve iii Linux audio driver

And after I fixed Wine my soundcard is back! lol I dunno why but I'll take it. Hopefully it stays.

Re: Evolve iii Linux audio driver

I did the Mint Upgrader on the Evolve. Lost WiFi again but got sound. Switched WiFi drivers and Wifi came back. After a couple of reboots soundcard is gone again and hasn't come back. :( Soundcard support was my reason for updating and so far it only worked for a couple of minutes. Going to try and reapply all the Wine stuff to make VarAC work again (when doing the upgrade it makes you go back to normal versions of several apps including Wine) and then circle back and try to figure out the soundcard. Soooooo annyoing.

Re: JS8Call 73Linux unmet dependencies

Iam getting this error
?
dpkg: error: cannot access archive '/var/cache/apt/archives/wsjtx-data_2.7.6-rc6+repack-1_all.deb': No such file or directory

Re: Evolve iii Linux audio driver

I nuked my non version 2 Evolve III I did a fresh install. ?Native sound input / output and wifi working on it also. Will install 73 on it tomorrow.?

Re: Evolve iii Linux audio driver

I have had it off and back on quite a few times and sound has been stable. Going to leave it running all night and check tomorrow.?

Re: Evolve iii Linux audio driver

I guess driver support for these laptops is - wait for it - evolving! LOL

I installed Mint 22 today on my Evolve III and it had no sound (it had "Dummy Output" as the device).

Then I did and system update.. and I have sound now :)

I had wifi support right out of the box.

Here are my sound settings now:

Re: Evolve iii Linux audio driver

Yes, I had the sound stop once too and but once I rebooted it was back and has been stable since (if you call 12 hours enough time to be stable :) )

Re: Evolve iii Linux audio driver

Edited

OK, the sound stopped working after I ?rebooted. Wifi is still working.?

Edit: shut laptop down. Turned it back on and sound input and output are back. ?Will play with it and see if this issue is intermitted or just a glitch.?

Re: Evolve iii Linux audio driver

I have two of the evolve laptops, so I Decided to update the OS on one of them to verify. I can confirm also that on board sound and Wi-Fi are working on my version 2 also.?

73 Linux

Pat Menu settings for the IC 705. I remember using PKTUSB and PKTFM. I need to get FLrig to automatically change frequency for the IC 705 and IC 7100.?
