Re: Can't get PAT to communicate with a station
#pat-mail
I had to look up TM-G707 as I had not heard of this radio. I remember Jason mentioned adding a -t -0 or -o in the dierwolf?settings. (I don't have access to that info ) . I could hear and see the tnc connect and then disconnect. It was not until I added the -o.? I hope this helps. If not file under D for delete. 73 Don Poaps New Westminster, BC VA7DGP DATA VA7QU ? Re: How to Resume a Failed Install
It will build with 1GB of RAM. We just need to increase the swap memory on the Pi during the FLDIGI build. If you are interested in seeing how build a pi does it, take a look at this file. Lines 10-21 expand the swap memory and lines 181-193 reset it to factory defaults. -- 73, de KM4ACK

Something to note.....the bluetooth portion of the sciprt was written for bluetooth GPS units and not bluetooth on your phone. I have only had one guy to test it and said it worked. I don't own a bluetooth GPS unit so I couldn't test myself.
Connecting your Pi to your phone's hotspot works perfectly well. There's really no advantage to running the Pi in hotspot mode other than you wouldn't need to rely on your phone for a hotspot. You could leave the phone behind and still have a hotspot to connect with in the field using a tablet or other wireless device. Knowing how to do both just gives you more options :-) -- 73, de KM4ACK

Since you have tried on both the pi and a windows box with no luck, it is possible that the gateway itself is experiencing issues. It's happened to me in the past.

Solar Data / Conky Install
#bap
After updating .conkyrc with the 2 lines from solar-data.txt, the conky display wrongly increases the font size for the solar data compared to the setting i had for the Conky Display.
So to reset the Conky Display to my liking by running Conky-Prefs. When the Conky Display is refreshed, the modification I just made to .conkyrc is overlayed with an original copy which excludes the lines just added from solar-help.txt Strange... Any suggestions! de KE2YK |
Re: Makerfocus dock
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýJason & Norrin,,Jason: I don¡¯t have a case yet. I was using the Canakit case but the MakerFocus board adds too much height. MakerFocus ?sells one but it comes with a fan which is unneeded and looks too short to get it all in now. I¡¯m is a dusty environment at times so a case makes sense. Hopefully others have found something that works.? Norrin: thanks for bringing up the center pole issue. I¡¯ll check it out when it arrives. Most likely Powerwerx would know. Re: Makerfocus dock
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýRichard, I almost purchased two of those cables from Powerwerx, one straight and one angled, but they did not say if they were center positive or not. I suppose it is easy enough to work around if they are not, but it would drive me mad if the red wire did not go center. I had parts floating around so I ended up making one for now.? I am just curious what the results are if/when you get them. Thanks. ? Also, Richard, I have always called it a barrel connector. I may be wrong, and that may not be the technical term for it, but it is a connector and it is shaped like a barrel. I have always heard it called that in casual conversation. I am unsure why your original question baffled anyone. ? Norrin ? Sent from for Windows 10 ? From: KI5EVJ - Richard via groups.io

K2PMD - Paul
First off, I want to say a huge thank you to Jason. Today, I was able to get the dongle working and I also got my Android phone to stream the GPS to the Pi. The interesting thing was after watching the video three times and writing all the code (and creating a cheat sheet), it didn't dawn on me to just try the GPS Update Tool. Voila! It worked perfectly the first time. Now I have two functional GPS strategies for the field.
Next, I want to try the Bluetooth option. Any instructions anywhere? If not, I am just going to lock them together and try using the Update Tool again. Anyway, I am having so much fun with this stuff. I don't know why I enjoy it so much but at 57 y.o., it's like self-care to me. (I have a stressful hospital job).? One question: What is the advantage of creating a hotspot on the pi? I have just been using my phone's hotspot and my pi uses it as its wi-fi.? Peace and Good, Paul - K2PMD |

Re: JS8Call Audio frustration
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýI use FLRIG with JS8call BUT my rig is different.? Having had this same issue though, I would look at the sound card selected for the output in js8call.?? That said, Benjamin made a generous offer to compare his settings with yours since you do have the exact hardware. ¿ªÔÆÌåÓýThis does not sound like hardware to me, at least not on the surface.? A couple of things.... 1.? Just to verify you are using PAT GUI?? Or the PAT Command line? 2.? Can you download from the RMS using Telnet? 3.? You are using ARDOP? 4.? If so, as Brian suggested, can you upload a log snippet of the connection and conversation from ARDOP?? Not an expert here by any stretch and it is hardware i do not use but I am happy to give it a once over. Re: How to Resume a Failed Install
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýI think Jason said previously, he played some tricks on the swap to expand it a good bit so BAP could install on a 3b and you are correct, the 3b maxes out at 1GB ram.? wsjtx at deep inspection will be interesting with 1GB, it may bog down on decode. Re: JS8Call Audio frustration
When I use JS8call on the Pi and my FT-991a I do not use any other program (like FLRig) to control the radio... just the CAT control over the USB. Some screenshots of my setup:

Let me know if you want to compare other settings?but i thinks it's because?you have FLRIg set instead of Ft-991A under Radio --> Rig in JS8Call

Ensure you have the baud rate (38400 in my example) set in
JS8Call?&

almost forgot, My menu #109 on the FT-991a is set:?109 SSB Port Select = USB also, I just didn't include a picture. ?

Re: Makerfocus dock
Ok, all this talk about the Makerfocus powerboard has be thinking again......I have one of these on my pi4 and its pretty awesome, but I have Four (4) Pi3b running 24/7 and am always getting the lightening bolt warning, so I am considering pputting one of these on each of those Pis, but will require New Cases, as the current ones dont allow for the board....
?
What cases are you guys using with your Pi3b WITH the makerfocus board ?
