Please come out and help if you can.? Grace Lutheran Church allows our club to meet there without charge and only ask that we help during their cleanup days.

I suspect we will be cleaning windows, dusting, removing cobwebs, wiping down doors, vacuuming and sweeping.? If I find out more details, I'll let you know, but for now bring gloves, rags, pails for this type of cleaning.?

EDIT:? The uSDX transceivers are NOT in this order!
Robert will be posting his review of the unit soon.? After you see the review, let me know if you still want to order the uSDX.

The Ed Fong antenna minus the TBJ antennas arrived today

I received the first shipment of antennas from Ed Fong and will bring these to the club meeting Friday.
The rest of the antennas (TBJ-1) Ed is shipping out this week so I should get them in time for the following weekend's Portable Radio/Help/ARRL Ham Open House event.
Green is what arrived, and the last column is the total $$ for just the items in green.
?
Please bring exact change or a check made out to me, 'David Schmidt'

CQ Autism Awareness Week April 2-April 8: Hams Worldwide Tune In for Inclusion

Hi Group!

From April 2nd to April 8th, the global ham radio community will once again raise its voice for a cause that touches millions¡ªAutism Awareness Week. Operators around the world will be calling out "CQ Special Event Autism Awareness Week," opening the airwaves to promote inclusion, understanding, and conversation around autism spectrum disorder (ASD).

CQ Autism Awareness: Hams Worldwide Tune In for Inclusion

Countries Represented
Argentina, Australia, Barbados, Belgium, Brazil, British Columbia, Canada, Croatia, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, England, France, India, Indonesia, Israel, Italy, Lebanon, Netherlands, New Zealand, Russia, Scotland, Seychelles, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, UAE, Venezuela, Wales, West Malaysia, Qatar

This meaningful event is organized for the third year by James Gallo, KB2FMH. Unlike traditional contests, there are no trophies or points to be won. For James, the true prize lies in the conversations¡ªthe rag-chews and shared stories that spread the message: it¡¯s OK to be different.

That message is traveling far and wide. In last year¡¯s event, over 17,000 QSOs (contacts) were logged, with signals stretching nearly 83 million miles across the globe. Hams are proving that while autism may make individuals feel alone, they are anything but.

In the U.S., tune in to the special event callsign W2A. Internationally, listen for stations like GB2AA, 8A2AAW, S76A, VO1BIG/VE3, and 7A2M. I am volunteering for this event and will be calling out W2A this week. To see the full list of participating callsigns and learn more, visit the .

** If you'd like to volunteer for the event, send an email to hamradioevents@... - attached to this post is the Operators guide for Special Event participation 2025.pdf **

Autism spectrum disorder is one of the fastest-growing developmental disabilities in the United States¡ªmore common than childhood cancer, diabetes, and AIDS combined. It affects 1 in 68 children, with boys nearly five times more likely to be diagnosed than girls.

ASD doesn¡¯t discriminate. It crosses all boundaries¡ªnationality, religion, race, and gender. It typically appears before the age of three and, while there is no medical cure or detection method, early diagnosis and intervention can significantly improve outcomes.

Individuals with autism often possess unique talents¡ªsome are exceptional artists, musicians, or mathematicians. Many experience hyperlexia, the ability to read far above their age level. Notable figures like Albert Einstein, Isaac Newton, Andy Warhol, and Bill Gates are widely believed to have been on the autism spectrum.

Autism Awareness Week on the air is more than a special event¡ªit¡¯s a worldwide effort to connect through shared humanity. It reminds us all that through conversation, empathy, and acceptance, we can make the world a little more inclusive¡ªone call at a time.

So listen in. Answer the call. And help make a difference.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: LOG WHAT YOU HEAR - ONLY

When you HEAR an operator using one of the calls, mainly the W2A call from our large group of ops across the US, log ONLY the call they SAY, Do Not log what you See on any clusters, Especially the POTA spots.?
Logging with Any modifier will prohibit any QSO matching when you go to request your card via the OQRS link as well as no getting confirmations on QRZ, LoTW or ClubLog.?
ONLY W2A/KH6 and W2A/KL7 modifiers should be logged for the DX Entity credit

Thank you for your participation!

73,
Andy >> KO6CZD

Ed Fong Antenna Group Buy Status

- I contacted Ed on Tuesday with the list and asked how to proceed.? He said to add $25 for shipping and send in a check.? He didn't want the payment via any other method.?
- I am sending him a check tomorrow.??
- Given how long first class mail takes anymore, I think we'll be lucky if the bulk order is received before the April 11th club meeting, but I bet we'll have it in time for the April 19th 'Portable Radio Operations and Help Session'.
?
uSDX status:? Robert KM6RSS has been going back and forth with Ed on microphone settings and believes the radio is working better. I asked Robert to write up a review on the rig, and this weekend I'll work with him to get a recording of the TX audio to confirm it is now good.? Once the review is written, I'll contact the folks that originally wanted to order one to confirm that they still do, then I'll place the order for the uSDX.
?
Below is the antenna order placed with Ed.
