UPDATE- Spring 2020 American Red Cross 5-30-2020 National Communication Exercise - UPDATE
2
TC ARES; On May 21, 2020 I sent out via [email protected] the packet for the American Red Cross Nationwide EmComm Exercise with local our Local TCARES group. Today I send out a replacement page for 30052020 ARES-ARC-ATTACH.pdf (rev. 5-24-2020 upper right hand of page), a WINLINK reminder document AND the .txt file to load into the ARC form IC 6409. The revised 30052020 ARES-ARC-ATTACHrev.pdf document speaks to the communications flow for the ARC/ARES Exercise on May 30, 2020. Please remove the old page and use this revision page as it updates the communication flow. The WINLINK reminder document discusses coordinating the Session (dropdown window) with the message mode (dropdown window). ie. Packet WINLINK with WINLINK Message; Packet P2P with Peer to Peer Message; Vara Radio Only with Radio Only Message, etc. The ARC 6409 data 2020-05-24.txt file is for loading into the ARC IC 6409 template. See communications flow for the ARC/ARES Exercise on May 30, 2020. I will have a brief presentation on our Zoom meeting Tuesday night. See you on the 147.360 resource net at 10:00 am, Saturday, May 30, 2020. Patrick Rogers, Incident Commander W5DVG

Spring 2020 American Red Cross 5-30-2020 National Communication Exercise
Michael Marks, KG5RXG has asked me to be the lead Incident Commander (IC) for the Spring 2020 American Red Cross 5-30-2020 National Communication Exercise that will involve TCARES. The drill will consist of sending and receiving WINLINK messages using ARC forms (found in the WINLINK Templates files). There will be NO deployment. All operators will standup their own QTH (Ham shack). Each operator’s QTH will act as an ARC Shelter. I, Michael Marks and one or two others will man the TCARES ECT for the exercise acting as an ARC DOC. John Roberts, W5RZG, and Roy Walker, WA5YZD will man the State SOC acting as State ARC Operations LC-STAR. WINLINK messages will be sent from the individual operators Shelters (QTH) to the DOC (TCARES ECT) to State ARC Operations and back down the chain. Telnet will not be used for this exercise. Part A (of the exercise) will begin at 10:00 am Saturday with a Resource net on 147.360, followed by the exchange of WINLINK messages. This activity should run to 12:00. This exercise will provide an excellent opportunity to work packet WINLINK, VARA FM WINLINK, VARA FM P2P and Packet P2P. Shelter (QTH) to DOC (ETC) to State ARC LC-STAR (SOC). Part B (of the exercise) will begin at 13:00 and end approximately at 14:00. This activity will consist of the passage of Red Cross forms through specific stations to distant points. WINLINK connections should be made to the furthest practical HF RMS Gateway. Depending on propagation, the use of HF WINLINK, Pactor WINLINK, Winmor WINLINK, VARA HF WINLINK, Pactor Radio Only, Vara Radio Only, is highly encouraged. This exercise/drill is an awesome and fun opportunity to practice VHF/HF WINLINK and its different software options. If you are willing to participate, please inform me Patrick Rogers, W5DVG@... and Michael Marks KG5RXG@.... ICS forms 201, 205 are attached. Thanks and 73, Patrick Rogers, W5DVG Incident Commander, Travis County ARES ALT DRO -12 TXRACES, Capitol District DRO-12 TXRACES

New Member Vote
#poll
A new poll has been created: Keeping our standards high should be a primary consideration. How high do we set the bar? Should we allow John Roberts to raise the bar to new heights by making him a member of The Texas State RACES Club or keep the bar at its lower, current level? Thumbs Up or Thumbs Down? Ballots will be held for a while to allow interference by Russia, Ukraine and China in the election process. Please watch the extensive media coverage by CNN, ABC, BBC, NPR and PBS News that will try to reshape the relevant issues at stake with the outcome of this election. Vote early and often to keep this election in current with the times. 1. Thumb Up 2. Thumb Down Vote Now -- Roy Walker WA5YZD
