The picture shows some plastic things that I believe are used to hold cards or something. The paper is asking for a vote (yes/no) on whether we need these for anything. You can check yes/no on the paper if you come by or send a reply to this email. Voting ends Sunday night at midnight after which we'll store them or pitch than. Let us know. Last Night's PARK auction
WOW! What a Night! Thank you everyone who came out and joined the fun, especially those who were instrumental in organizing, obtaining items to be auctioned, setting up and ¡°working¡± the auction. With out everyone¡¯s efforts we wouldn¡¯t have been able to pull off another successful auction. While there were a few items that did not sell, the vast majority of the private sell, donated, and free stuff went off to new homes! I don¡¯t have a final tally of the proceeds but I can honestly predict that that number will exceed all expectations. Thank you again, and let¡¯s look forward to a bigger and better auction next year. 73, Tim

St. Paul Island DXpedition Taking Shape
? ? CY9C ---> The DXpedition to St. Paul Island [425DXN 1730] will run six sta- tions on 160-10 metres, and one station for VHF/UHF/EME and satellite. At any given time, a minimum of 3 stations will be using the new SuperFox FT8 mode. All antennas will be monobanders, with the exception of 12/17 metres, which will use a duoband beam with a diplexer. The team will assemble in Dingwall (Nova Scotia) on 24 August. Radio opera- tions will commence on 26 August and conclude on 5 September (both dates are weather dependent). Two helicopters will transport all gear and operators to/from the island, making this the most expensive St. Paul Island operation ever. As "getting permission for these sensitive areas is becoming increasingly more difficult each year", this could well be the last St. Paul Island operation for many years to come". Financial contributions are gratefully accepted: see https://t-rexsoftware.com/cy9c/ for information. Source: 425 DX News #1731 dated 6 July 2024 Bill Engel, K5DHY, of Murphy and a member of Garland ARC, is part of the CY9C support team. He was a member of the "on-island" operations team on a previous DXpedition. 73 de KR1ZAN ------------------- SuperFox mode behaves operationally like the old-style Fox and Hounds mode but uses a new constant envelope waveform for Fox¡¯s transmissions. Messages can be transmitted simultaneously to as many as 9 Hounds with no signal-strength penalty, resulting in a system gain of about +10 dB compared to the older Fox-and-Hound operation with 5 slots. Further details on SuperFox mode can be found in the SuperFox User Guide. IMPORTANT:Hounds must use WSJT-X 2.7.0-rc5 (or a later release, when available) to receive SuperFox messages.

Hurricane Beryl: Hurricane Watch Net Active
From the ARRL.ORG web news (de KR1ZAN)Hurricane Beryl: Hurricane Watch Net Active 06/30/2024 Amateur Radio is active to provide critical communications for those in the path of Hurricane Beryl. The following information is from Bobby Graves, KB5HAV, the Net Manager of the Hurricane Watch Net. Sunday, June 30, 2024, AM update: Overnight, Beryl grew into a strong Category 3 Hurricane. As of 8:00 AM EDT (1200 UTC), Beryl was located about 420 east of Barbados moving to the west or 280 degrees at 21 mph with sustained winds of 115 mph. Continued rapid strengthening is forecast over the next day or so, and Beryl is expected to become an extremely dangerous category 4 hurricane before it reaches the Windward Islands. On the current track, Beryl is expected to move over the smaller islands between Grenada and St. Vincent. Some of these islands are populated. Any deviation to the left of the current track and Grenada could take a direct strike. Any deviation to the right of track and St. Vincent could take a direct strike. The Hurricane Watch Net will be activated this afternoon at 3:00 PM EDT (1900 UTC) on 14.325.00 MHz (USB). We remain in operation on this frequency for as long as propagation allows. We will activate this evening at 7:00 PM EDT (2300 UTC) on 7.268.00 MHz (LSB). We will remain active on this frequency overnight for as long as propagation allows. If propagation allows us to operate all night, we will suspend operations at 7:30 AM EDT Monday to allow the Waterway Net to conduct their daily Net. For this evening and overnight, we will be lining up reporting stations in the path of Beryl. This will allow people to check their equipment and allow us to know where storm shelters are located as well as line up Emergency Operations Centers and Emergency Comms. For Monday, we will resume operations on 14.325.00 MHz at 6:00 AM EDT (1000 UTC). Also, we will resume operations on 7.268.00 MHz at 8:30 AM EDT (1230 UTC). We will remain active for as long as we can be of assistance. As always, we greatly appreciate the daily users and various nets who use 14.325.00 MHz and 7.268.00 MHz for allowing us a clear frequency. It certainly makes our job easier and I know those in the affected area appreciate it as well. Our prayers go out to those who could be affected by Hurricane Beryl. HWN is prepared, ready to serve, and do what we can to help save lives.

ARRL IT Systems Partially Back Up
Source: https://www.arrl.org/news/arrl-systems-service-disruption [Good news in the June 14th update is that the ARRL Learning Center, which includes video courses for Technician, General and Extra exams, is back up and available.] ARRL Systems Service Disruption 06/21/2024 Updated 6/21/2024 ARRL staff continue to work with outside industry experts to ensure that all servers have been remediated, tested, and all data has been confirmed. We have also been working to ensure that the network is secure. As noted in previous updates, Logbook of The World? servers and data are fine and working. LoTW? has dependencies on other servers, for example membership data, which have not yet been returned to service. We will announce when LoTW is open for user access. We anticipate that the queue will grow quite large once live, and we are evaluating ways to manage that potential issue. As a reminder, 2024 ARRL Field Day is this weekend. We note that some groups have scaled back or cancelled their outdoor plans due to excessive heat or severe weather threats. Please use caution this weekend (visit Heat.gov for heat and health information). Enjoy Field Day. The Field Day bulletin will be transmitted from W1AW and K6KPH as scheduled (see PDF schedule). Your Field Day results may be uploaded to https://field-day.arrl.org/fdentry.php or mailed to ARRL after the event. Updated 6/14/2024 We are continuing to make progress on restoring the ARRL network and many related systems and databases. Thank you for your continued patience and understanding as we carefully address and restore affected services. While the Logbook of The World? server, Online DXCC, and related user data are secure and unaffected, we have taken the precautionary measure of keeping the services offline until we can ensure the security and integrity of our networks. The ARRL Learning Center (learn.arrl.org), our online course and training hub, is accessible. The Learning Center includes content from across a variety of amateur radio topics and interests. The Learning Center will require a slightly different login experience while we continue to restore interconnected databases. Users who have logged into the Learning Center before will need to use their EMAIL ADDRESS and use the 'forgot my password' function to set a new Learning Center password. Users who are new to the system will sign up/register using their email address. When ARRL systems are fully restored, user accounts will be reconciled with membership accounts again. ARRL Field Day is June 22 ¨C 23, 2024. Visit www.arrl.org/field-day for rules and other resources to help prepare your participation. Following the event, online entries will be supported as usual at https://field-day.arrl.org/fdentry.php. The ARRL Volunteer Examiner Coordinator is continuing to process Amateur Radio License applications to the FCC. We have processed all applications from exam sessions uploaded by Volunteer Examiners through June 12, 2024. Sessions mailed to ARRL VEC and received by us are processed within 1 ¨C 2 business days. The new Amateur Extra-class Question Pool will be effective beginning July 1, 2024. New Extra-class exam booklet designs will be supplied to VE teams as soon as possible. Teams may also contact the ARRL VEC after July 1 for an emailed version in the interim. This story will be updated with new developments.
