DFW Ham Expo - PARK Table - Volunteer SignUps
Per the board meeting- I created a sign up form. We had three board members who said they could go so I think if we formalize who and when, we can get additional 2 and 3 hour commitments from other club members as well and staff the table. I post it here for review. If approved, I can post it, or PR or Events. https://www.signupgenius.com/go/8050E45ACA92FA6F58-56750897-hamfest#/ -- Anthony Burokas General Class Ham (KB3DVS) VP: Plano Amateur Radio Klub 每 http://k5prk.net 25-year video producer 〞 IEBA.com

Prestige outdoor ethernet switch
3
So I can understand this, 0) we want a managed switch to be deployed outside (thus the weatherproof design) and the plan is separate power and fiber to the switch as opposed to a PoE from inside a protected area? 1) is there AC power in this outdoor area to provide to the switch? Does that power have a backup? 2) how many items are we connecting to our switch? like, is this for PoE cameras? Maybe that PtP WiFi connection we discussed in the meeting? 3) how much management do these items need? FIeld Day press release
4
First draft of the press release. Three issues: The logo looks ratty - I pulled it off the website and resized it. I don't do graphics so I'm not sure what to do to clean it up. The white out didn't work. Mike - I'll need some help with the section in bold - I just threw in a few items as examples. The pr@... email is not coming to me. Rob K5WFR

Summer Field Day
Mike, with 2 months to go to Field Day, should I get the sign up sheet set up for PSFD-2025? You had mentioned needing someone to run a GOTA station. Reviewing the GOTA rules, which were updated for 2025, I think we can use one of our PARK HF stations for GOTA. There's nothing that says it has to be set up in a different space, or different way than the rest of the stations, and incorporating it into our standard deployment means we PLAN for that antenna and RF as part of our overall activity - as opposed to arranging our setup and then the GOTA station interferes with other radios. There is allowed only one GOTA station, so we can still do HF SSB, Digital, VHF, and CW stations as we typically do. GOTA and VHF doesn't count as "transmitters" so we'd be SSB/Digital/CW 3A plus also getting points from GOTA and VHF. I'm unclear whether the GOTA station _has_ to be on battery power. On one hand, it says GOTA is not included in transmitter total, and bonus is per (gualified) transmitter. OTOH, then it says "all transmitting equipment" must.... I invite the board to look it over and tell me which way you think GOTA falls. 1) GOTA has to be on battery because it's part of all equipment 2) GOTA doesn't have to be on battery because the GOTA transmitter should not be included in the club's transmitter total. I have also asked the ARRL for clarification. 7.3.1. 100% Emergency Power: 100 points per transmitter classification if all contacts are made only using an emergency power source up to a total of 20 transmitters (maximum 2,000 points.) GOTA station and free VHF Station for Class A and F entries do not qualify for bonus point credit and should not be included in the club*s transmitter total. All transmitting equipment at the site must operate from a power source completely independent of the commercial power mains to qualify. (Example: a club operating 3 transmitters plus a GOTA station and using 100% emergency power receives 300 bonus points.) Available to Classes A, B, C, E, and F. === For PR: Media takes a while to turn around, so we can probably start now with PR for the event. 7.3.2. Media Publicity: 100 bonus points may be earned for obtaining publicity from the local media. A copy of the actualmedia publicity received (newspaper article, etc.) must be submitted to claim the points. Any combination of bona fide media hits would qualify for the bonus points. 7.3.16 Social Media: 100 points for promoting your Field Day activation to the general public via an active, recognized and utilized social media platform (Facebook,Twitter, Instagram, etc). This bonusisavailabletobonafideAmateurRadioclubsandField Daygroupsthatwelcomevisitors to their operation. Educational - like a Winlink or Echolink demonstration area: 7.3.10.Educational activity bonus: One(1)100-pointbonusmaybeclaimedifyourField Day operationincludes a specific educational-relatedactivity I have been trying for months to connect with local agencies, and there's even a bonus for it: 7.3.12. Site Visitation by a representative of an agency: One (1) 100-point bonus may be claimed if your Field Day site is visited by a representative of an agency served by ARES in your local community (American Red Cross, Salvation Army, local Emergency Management, law enforcement, etc.) as the result of an invitation issued by your group. This was my collection of noes from Previous Field days, as well as some planning and outreach for PSFD2025. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1MlHryC65OkhrVqT1AyPu87RT-hwp8UKCxvwKvQiFnm8/edit?usp=sharing And once again, club members operating from home can still "participate" by including K5PRK when reporting their individual results. I think will be of interest to club members who may be medically home bound, but still want to participate in some way. Participants from any Class can optionally include a single club name with their submitted results following Field Day. For example, if PodunkHollow RadioClub members Becky, W1BXY, and Hiram, W1AW, both participate in 202 3Field Day每Hiram from his Class D home station, and Becky fromher Class C mobile s

Activities Slides for Monday

Tim, I have attached my slides for Monday's meeting. I have been sick all of this past week and am still not ready to spread my germs all over the club members, so I will not be attending the meeting on Monday. Thanks, and have a great meeting. I so much wanted to see Anthony's presentation on 3-D printing. 73's Richard Seitz KG5HCJ

FW: Plano Amateur Radio Klub Membership
My response to our disgruntled non-renewal. Btw # I looked and unless he*s registered under a different name, this non-renewer is not on our groups.io mailing list. Tim ==== I*m sorry that your experience with PARK have been less than your expectations. Please know that we have been taking steps to shorten the business meeting portion, but in the interest of transparency and keeping our members involved, sometimes some items may take more time. We will continue to post future programs in the newsletter and to our K5PRK email list on groups.io. We plan to record our meetings and post those on the website. The big screen TV at the church is what it is. We advise attendees to site closer if needed. I think we have been providing a wide range of programs related to Ham Radio. Members are always invited to submit suggestions and requests. We always remind FD operators to be mindful of others wishing to operate. Past club officers were not forgotten. There was not enough time to recognize every past officer individually, so we decided to recognize the Founders, past Presidents, and other officers the way we did. Thank you for the contributions you made as a club officer. I still invite you to give PARK a try and renew your membership. Clubs evolve over time and members come and go. But it*s the members and their involvement that make a club what it is, and we would welcome you back. 73, Tim

No other way to get it I belong to Richardon club. Meetings arte 15 minutes routine stuff. New members. Announcements of upcoming stuff. Short break then program. It's also on Zoom so if weather bad or I'm out of town, I can join meeting. Half programs from online presentations. Big screen in auditorium at church and via Zoom Tired of too many. PARK programs not interesting to me. Been to PARK FD many times. Not invited to operate. No one in control. Go RWK FD. Much better. Used to go, volunteer Ballon festival. No more Actually was officer PARK back in 1990s. Sort of ticked off when you had dinner honoring past Predidents but forgetting others like VP, treasurer, board members. _._,_._,_
