Funds allocated to K5PRK radio projects

Hi All, I'm starting to locate parts and do pricing before Ron comes back and we resume our implementation at Plano Medical Center. I heard that I have a budget to work with but I don't have a breakout of what those items/projects are. I'll be buying my own gear as well for my hospital project and ordering it all together may get us some price breaks. I'm specifically needing information about Plano Medical Center but if I get a list of all sites that will be beneficial. Thanks, Miranda

Nomination packages should include the members Name and Callsign and at least a half dozen bullet points on why they are being nominated. I've been pushed out of my Facebook account, and after a half day of trying, I'm not finding a way back in. So whomever's able to go into the PARK Facebook group and remove Anthony Burokas as admin would be prudent at this time. I have a new account that I guess I'll slowly be connecting as I go, while also trying a few more things to get my old account back. But there's zero customer support from Facebook, no call, no email, no chat, not even an AI bot. Just some "how to" docs that don't cover the issue I'm having. -- Anthony Burokas General Class Ham (KB3DVS) VP: Plano Amateur Radio Klub 每 http://k5prk.net 25-year video producer 〞 IEBA.com

Slides for Activities for November Meeting
2
November's slides for activities are attached. I may or may not be at this month's meeting. My bi-annual upper respiratory infection has shown it's ugly head, again. If I show, it will probably be a little late, just in time for the evening's presentation. (will keep my distance, of course) Thanks. Richard Seitz

110 starlight drive photos and removal timeline

I have finished my analysis of the property and have determined I can remove about 90% of the hardware come this weekend, everything is tilt over. I'm going to be asking in my group for help with safety/stability. If I get enough help for safety and tag lines I should be able to remove the big tower as well. The big tower has a unique design to help support the spine of the tower when not vertical so it may be self sufficient but I'll be taking the careful road anyway. Photos available here, https://swarm.shareandmakeaware.org/index.php/s/8jQDxWNyy7cFeHr I tried to upload them to groups.io from my phone but it seems there's a small limit so they are in our cloud storage for the moment. Being I've had issues with email can someone reply with his contact information so I can start scheduling this with him please? I'm assuming my mail client has eaten or misplaced almost everything in the past month which is also why I'm using the groups.io webpage to send this. Miranda

Repeater video links for Miranda
Miranda asked about images covering what's at the Repeater site and I remembered I filmed the tower climb last november and made a video where Kip described a lot of the components, so here's the link to some photos and videos https://1drv.ms/f/s!AvdX80Iz3-T0gZAJpdRbnNY0IodThQ?e=hm1kuQ -- Anthony Burokas General Class Ham (KB3DVS) VP: Plano Amateur Radio Klub 每 http://k5prk.net 25-year video producer 〞 IEBA.com

Congratulations and Welcome
I think we*re all on this mailing list now. Congratulations to returning board members, and congratulations and welcome to new board members. In the boards groups.io group, please take a look at your convenience, the FILES section. Each board member (including the Field Day coordinator) has their own folder (aptly named) for files and documents pertinent to your position. Here you will find older documents and should keep future documents and files. Feel free to Feel free to look around and familiarize yourself with what all we have collected here, and to organize your folder and you see fit. Should you find something in your folder that you think should be in a different director*s folder, please coordinate that with that director. Any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to ask. 73, Tim

Holiday party gifts

I've recently added a little led flashlight light to my collection. it's a magnetic light that I lassoed to my belt. So it's always within reach and merely grabbing the magnetic light and pulling it out of the base turns it on, so it's on as fast as I grab it. It also recharges via USB. And it's kind of a fidget device too, with the magnet that yanks it back into the holder. I think something like this (doesn't have to be this one, would be a nice alternative to little radios for the holiday giveaways. https://amzn.to/48u05UJ -- Anthony Burokas General Class Ham (KB3DVS) VP: Plano Amateur Radio Klub 每 http://k5prk.net 25-year video producer 〞 IEBA.com

2025 Field Day newsletter
Sorry Neil, I meant to post this this to the board In light of the hurricanes in Florida and the likely increase in the number and severity of weather incidents, it seems reasonable to add emergency preparedness to our Field Day in 2025. Ham Radio is relevant and in does have a role to play in regional disaster assistance. The Hurricane Tracking Center in Miami broadcasts on 40 and 20 meters so HF is not just viable, it's relevant. If power is off, then HF may be the only way to send civilian messages outside the disaster area. Take a look at these articles that Tim and Dick posted: https://www.wired.com/story/hurricane-helene-milton-north-carolina-florida-amateur-radio/ https://www.radioworld.com/news-and-business/headlines/ham-radio-operators-assemble-ahead-of-hurricane-milton So, perhaps PARK could make its Field Day mission more about the role we as Hams can fulfill in an emergency. In preparation for this year, I'd like to propose that we begin reaching out the Red Cross, the Salvation Army and the City of Plano to integrate and participate in our Field Day to prepare PARK to take on an emergency role if we are needed.
