I agree with the sentiment in the article, but it takes a bit of
doing to get there.
We have a concept of a revitalized Field Day / Emergency
Preparedness event, perhaps even a Winder Field Day
Fox Hunts
The weekly open net on Wednesdays
VE testing
there's CW Ops classes
Club auction
But I'm sure there could be more- inf you also include the
activities of the other clubs as well.
I think they key thing can be cross-club marketing / promotion and
communication, as well as public outreach to get information about
what we _are_ doing in front of more people, who may be interested
enough to also spearhead new activities - like Tony did his weekend
antenna builds, local balloon launches, and more.
It's easy to have ideas, but it's a challenge to get people to
spearhead the activity and for clubs to support each other in
getting the word out, both within clubs and to the local community.
There's an opportunity to drive more public relations, and work with
other clubs to share the load of being present at more public events
throughout the area. For instance, PARK was one of the clubs that
provided communications support at the Plano Balloon Festival, but
there was no ham club who had a table there to promote ham radio to
the hundreds that walked by the tables.
I feel that if the various PR reps from the different clubs
regularly communicated and coordinated, we could be more effective
in outreach on behalf of ham radio and preparedness.

Now that they have this email address they may try to scam others
in this group.
Please note, anyone else receiving these emails, the attacker
will attempt to hurry? you through with vague statements
indicating that there's a critical need, it's authorized by the
highest level in the company, and it to be sent via UNREFUNDABLE
payment methods.?? This includes Zelle, Wire Transfers, Cash App,
(sometimes) Paypal, Crypto (usually bitcoin).?? If you send this
funding to the scammers (this group, personal lives, primary job)
the money is gone and cannot be recovered.
Remember that police will never ask for payment over the phone,
presidents of companies have their patterns, if the pattern
changes, has urgency or coercion, immediately challenge
them, a true CEO will have no problems proving themselves and no
transaction will have issues if you take the 10 minutes to verify
them.
