KD 122 Italy two build

Hi Bernd
I started the second construction of the KD 122 in southern Italy.
Today October 19th I started with a temperature of 26 degrees.
It is much warmer than where I live in this period, I would say excellent for resin with epoxy.
Soon I open a new photo folder
bye

Hi Domenico
Nice to hear that you have started your second KD 122.
Nice temperature to work. By the way, here it would be also not bad at still 22 degrees

Good to get new input. I have the feeling that the people here are frozen
stiff already or have the spring fatigue.

Chiao Bernd

Hi Bernd I have opened a new photo gallery on the second construction of the KD 122 Italy
In three days I prepared the bineraio and hand-cut all the BHs from the offset table.
?

Hi Domenico

You are, as expected :-)) made a quick start.
You will build in this room too?

Ciao

Bernd

Yes Bernd the boat will be completely completed in this shed which is located 300M from the sea.
In addition to the climate that in southern Italy makes the difference for example today at 11 in the morning 23 degrees.

Hi Domenico
Bulkheads look good. Good work. Is there an extra bulkhead on both sides??

I will try to finish my Voyager before you finish this one!
We are trying to finish glassing the outside before the cold weather comes.?
Cheers

Hi Patrick nice to hear your works are going well.
Yes there is an extra bulkhead between the BH4 and BH 5 that I had put on the first KD 122. Putting it now is easier as you know.

Hi Bernd
After the first 12 days of work, placed the BHs on the track and I finished putting all the douglas strips.
Now a short break and then we start again. Bye

Hi Domenico
Good job!?

Will you glue the sail locker floor between BH 1 and 2 now or after turning the hulls? How about the floor of the aft deck near the transoms??

Cheers
Patrick

Hi Patrick
Do you mean these? Watertight compartments? Look at the two photos.
However, before the closure of the planking they will be glued first.
Even the internal hull plan between BH3 and BH6, the latter, however, will only be drawn and then placed at the end of construction.
Bye

Hi Domenico
Yes, I meant those. Good thinking.?

Another question: If you make a second BH 4 on both hulls, will you eliminate the hallway bed (bunk)? Also, will the steps down to the hulls be located forward of BH 4? I want to to this in the starboard hull but there is less headroom because of the deckhouse shape.?

Patrick

Hello I need the complete study pans .?

Hi Patrick, the new BH4 B bulkhead has already been inserted (if you see the first photos) and is placed at 600mm from the BH5 direction of the original BH4.
The 600mm is the space to create the steps to go down into the hulls, the two new BH4, left side attaches to the master bedroom, the other attaches to the sofa and become structural.
Both the bedroom and the sofa are not modified while the two aft bedrooms do, I opened a door equal to the BH3 and move the bed surface towards the cockpit lockers so you can enter the room comfortably and get on the bed. (Bernd saw everything before building KD 122)
Back to the new BH4 B compared to the first KD 122 I installed the BH earlier because it is more comfortable now than later ....
However, under the messages I know or four photos where you can see the BH4B as it is put and you will understand or the first photo gallery kd122 Italy

Hi, David
For the first time I cut the bulkheads (BH) without making the inserts where the Douglas fir strips pass and in two days I cut the BHs.
?
Prepared the track (very useful) to position the BHs, they are positioned and fixed well level. From the CWL line you take the measurements on all the douglas strips and position them with a 2mm x 150mm multilayer strip and screws without gluing them (see photo gallery) the BH are already fixed and stable and then glue the strips one by one one. It will also be my experience but I found myself very well and the advantage is not having to wait for the CNC cutting, I recovered 10 days only for the BH cutting ....
?
Another important thing are the six douglas strips to create the four hull beams, here too it is important to fix a strip first to have the same space between the track below between the BH and then parts with the gluing of all the strips. . Upon my arrival at the shipyard I had seen those scaffolding trestles and I used them to create a bridge to smooth the four beams, being able to pass from one hull to another without having to go down. This makes cleaning work much easier for you, you don't work with your arms high, these scaffolding stands can also be rented.
?
I know they are heavy but I use Okume 'panels 1,53m x 3,10m but I work better on the closure of the planking. Now I am resting for 5 days and at the end of the month I leave to clean the corners of the hull, spread the fiberglass and then rotate the hulls by December 15th. Then we leave again on January 20th
