Moderated kd 122 italy

Hello Bernd and all the forum
First of all, happy Easter everyone.
I had a slowdown in the works due to an accident on my left hand but luckily everything is ok.
Resumed work on the KD 122 Italy, finished the tedious job of sanding the entire boat, given two coats of epoxy primer and now she's ready to be painted.
The mast will always be A-Frame but no longer in composite (due to too high costs in this period) but in aluminum tubes.
The mainsails and jib were all original.
The wheelhouse will be tiller with seat.
The engines will be 48volts electric with 48volts off grid inverter with a small photovoltaic system just to operate the off grid inverter.

Not long now
Bye

Hi Domenico

What was happening with your hand?
I hope that all is okay now.

Yes, this sanding--- the boat looks so different in the primer.
So, the A-frame mast, back to the original?

Have a nice Eastertime

Bernd

looks amazing Domenico, cheers

Wow! Such incredible workmanship. The design is quite wonderful and you have captured it so beautifully. You are such an inspiration, showing what one person can do. Amazing. I love it. And about the hand - very sorry to hear that and hope it is healed properly. It is a reminder to us all to be safe.

es, Bernd causes high costs in this period, making it in composite (oval shape) with carbon fiber and epoxy resins cost over 20,000 euros.
? As you know, I have an aluminum tube supplier and we opted for 6mt aluminum tubes, 2 tubes of 100mm diameter x 5mm thickness, 4 tubes of 80mm diameter x 5mm thickness and 1 tube of 60mm diameter x 5mm thickness.
The two 100mm start from the base, two 80mm with one meter joint always 80mm and the crosspieces the first 80mm and the two at the top 60mm, the mast head with pulleys and brackets as per drawing.
The aluminum mast has a cost of 4,500 euros, a good savings in composite, it would have been nicer with the boomerang-shaped crosspieces but.

I had a bad time with my hand after so many years that I hadn't had an accident, I could have lost three fingers on my left hand.
I was cutting a piece of mahogany for reinforcement under the base deck of the mast, the blade of the band saw broke, when it came out of the flywheels it caught my three fingers. early february 35 days to heal and it just grazed me........
Now I'm going like a train again :-))

Hi Brayn, thank you
One day I would like to come to the country of sailing....;-)

Oh dear Rod I follow you on the work of your boat, I can only say: WONDERFUL
Keep it up ciao

There is a limit to anything. What a difference in costs. The use today carbon for any sh..t.
I laugh at the idiots (sorry about my French). Building so-called "light super sophisticated carbon power boats"
But with Marmor bathrooms and jacuzzies and so on.? A friend works in the Netherlands in a boatbuilding consulting company.?
They get serious inquiries for the lowest possible Marmor tops thicknesses so they would not break. No gimmick.?

What an accident. Good that you are fully recovered.?

Ciao Bernd

Hi Domenico
Good job! Primer makes it look very close to finished for sure. I like the straight slope on the aft part. And the flush hatches look good too.

Can you post a picture of the interior steps from the bridge deck down to the hulls?

And does the customer want the roller furling main or the full batten main?

Cheers
Patrick
PS I still think mine is the first one ;)

Hi Patrick, the mainsail will be full batten
The photo of the steps I only have this photo because they have now been removed to pass the cables of the electrical system. After that it will be put back.
Let me know if you need anything else ;-)

Ciao

Thanks Domenico! The steps look good. My steps are not as many and you can¡¯t remove them. Good job.
Cheers
Patrick

Hi Patrick photos on the steps to go down the hulls. They ran out of wiring and I put the stairs back. I preferred to make them removable for the passage or control of the electrical cables. you never know...
?
Plus I started with the wheelhouse and rail deck design before paint... Ciao
