Chord Method Available 3
Hi everyone, I hope the new is treating you all well! After some delays and procrastination I'm happy to announce my book, Loosening the “Grip”: A new approach to building guitar chords and harmony, has finally been published. Part of the delay happened because it was almost picked up by Chuck Sher, but we had some differences of opinion about content & format, and in the end I opted to publish it myself. The book is not very long (a little over 30 pages) but I did this deliberately: I didn't want to come up with yet another "cookie cutter" book about guitar chords and harmony; instead, I lay out some concepts, ideas, and approaches I consider useful to approaching chord construction in a (primarily) jazz guitar context and leave it to the reader to come up with his or her own individual approaches. The hard copy book will be available soon on Amazon and there will probably be a Kindle version as well. List price for the hard copy book is $27.50 (USD), but as a courtesy to friends and members here I will send you a soft copy (.pdf) version for $20 (USD) payable through PayPal. Please email me off-list if you're interested or if anybody has any questions, etc. Thanks! Cheers, JV Juan Vega

Group Jazz Guitar Classes In London, UK 2
I thought I would plug some jazz guitar classes which are inexpensive group classes and run at City Lit in London on Sunday afternoons - jazz guitar 2 and jazz guitar 3: http://www.citylit.ac.uk/courses/jazz-guitar-2http://www.citylit.ac.uk/courses/jazz-guitar-3 . I attended jazz guitar 1 and I am currently enrolled in the jazz guitar 2 course which starts this term (like jazz guitar 3) this Sunday. (I'm a bit worried that these might not run due to not having enough students signed up - so if you're interested, sign up soon. In theory, you might be able to start 1 or 2 weeks late but there is danger that the class will turn out to be cancelled due to not enough people if you do that.) William

Jimmy Bruno Status Update (Was: Jimmy Bruno Is Critically Ill) 21
Jimmy Bruno, a musical hero of mine and a dear personal friend for many years, is critically ill in a hospital near his home in suburban Philadelphia. A month ago he had a seizure due to a head injury after having fallen in his home. He remains on a ventilator in the hospital. His improvement has been very slow, but fortunately he seems to be moving in the right direction. Please keep him in your thoughts. Rick Goosenberg P.S. If any of you know Jimmy and would consider making even a small contribution to his family's "Go Fund Me" account, search for "Support for Jimmy's Family" at www.gofundme.com. His family doesn't know that I'm posting this note here, but I know that his medical expenses will be astronomical so I thought it was reasonable to post a note like this to the group. I hope no one is offended by my post.

Jimmy Bruno and Frank Vignola 2
Now that it’s a bit past two months since Jimmy Bruno had his traumatic brain injury and spent better than a month on a ventilator, he is doing much better. He’s been off the ventilator for awhile, his tracheostomy has finally healed closed, and he is able to eat without requiring the feeding tube that was placed during his hospital stay. He’s finishing several weeks at a lousy little rehab center whose only positive feature is that it is only five minutes from his home. He’s very deconditioned and will need a great deal of physical therapy, but he is able to walk short distances. When he first came off the ventilator and could speak again, he was very agitated and kind of paranoid, but fortunately that has passed. He has softened his stance that he never wants to play the guitar again, but he doubts that he will do another gig. He’s worried about his memory (though he can hum solos that he played on his recordings and remembers his music theory), his hearing and his vision. What a neurosurgeon friend told me is that it can take up to 18 months to re-establish a new baseline in terms of personality and special senses, so he’s probably ahead of the curve. He unfortunately can’t remember his Website’s password so he can’t yet communicate with students or others who might look at the site, but he asked me to extend his thanks to the many who wished him well. He will hopefully be able to go home in a week or so. Chris Smart asked for the link to the Go Fund Me site for Jimmy. It’s https://www.gofundme.com/mvc.php?route=category&term=support%20for%20jimmy%27s%20family or go to www.gofundme.com and search for “Support for Jimmy’s family”. There are two links with that title. Jimmy’s is the one with the picture of him with his wife, son, daughter and grandson. ====================== What Jimmy told me was that Frank Vignola had multiple injuries after an accident in an all-terrain vehicle this past spring and he may not be able to play the guitar before the end of the year. I found an article that isn’t detailed, but talks about his accident. It’s here: http://crestedbuttemusicfestival.org/important-announcement-regarding-frank-vignola/ It only says that he had a number of fractured bones in his right arm, shoulder and clavicle.

Please Tell Me What Designs You'd Like on Your Guitar Case
Hi, I'm here because I'm trying to design some guitar cases so I thought I'd ask what kind of designs a guitarist would like. Since I'm not a guitarist, your input would be valuable to me. To see what I've done so far you can see some at the link below: Thanks http://www.zazzle.com/TheClothesCloset/guitar+case Nancy B

Would you please help me identify a (Wes?) tune? 5
Dear Sirs, This question might be too obvious for most of you. Sorry about that, but it seems that my LT memory got freezed hard this time. As far as I remember, it is a movie theme, and I remember having seen it in a Wes' music book as a chord-melody arrangement. Would you please take a look on the attached image and shed some light on this? Thank you so much in advance! Marco.

Help lifting something 6
I'm trying to lift the Robert Glasper tune entitled "FTB". You can hear it at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uEh83c1wkMA Can someone with good ears help me clear up a discrepancy about the B section? I'm pretty sure the basic chords to the B section are: CMAJ7 EbMAJ7 EbMAJ7 FMAJ7 (repeat x 1) Fmin7 GbMAJ7 GbMAJ7 AbMAJ7 A guy in a jazz ensemble in which I am participating, claims it goes: Emin11 EbMAJ7 EbMAJ7 FMAJ7 (repeat x1) C7sus4 DbMAJ7 DbMAJ7 EbMAJ7 BbMAJ7 Dmin11 (based on a chart he found online... he didn't lift it from the recording) What do you guys here?
