Performers adjust to gig-less New Year’s Eve
Times-Herald

New Year’s Eve used to be prosperous for jazz guitarist Mimi Fox. This time around, it’s live long and prosper. Yes, the Vallejoan is a “Star Trek” fan — and that’s what she said she’ll be watching Thursday. “Hopefully, next year, I’ll be playing a fantastic gig somewhere,” Fox said. The acclaimed musician can’t remember a New Year’s Eve she didn’t work...

Hi Alisdair,
Yes, the Vallejoan is a “Star Trek” fan
I always knew I liked her for something! ;-)

I love her playing, though, and always have.

I parked myself in front of the tv, and channel-surfed to see which
artists were doing what (by videos, of course.). And, IMO, the night's
winner was....

....
(waiting for drum roll)

....
Lee Ann Rimes! While some may fault her for the 'disco-esque' influence
on her tunes, her performance (all produced, of course) kicked-ass. Her
voice had taken on a new depth, and she seemed much more comfortable
with her showmanship.

She's been through a lot, and it was good seeing her again, for sure!
