I believe he's just dealing with chorus and slight overdrive from the amp. That's just a guess. Anyone have a more definitive answer? I'm not sure if it's a Rypdal album, but I do know that After The Rain is a very cool Coltrane tribute by McLaughlin, Joey DeFrancesco, and Elvin Jones. A favorite of mine.
