Reed Kotler's Transcribing devices and Software

Musician's Ear - Chord Transcriber
"A software application which can identify the chords played in
virtually any piece of recorded music. You play an ordinary tape or CD
on your stereo system or CD-ROM drive, and Chord Transcriber names the
chords that are played by the recorded instruments"

Has anyone used these pieces of software ? Any thoughts ?

I checked out the Musician's Ear -- Chord Transcriber trial version and I
wasn't too impressed. I think it would work well with pop tunes and
perhaps folk ballads (anything slow to medium tempo tune with "basic"
chords), but I suspect that an up-tempo Wes tune will be frustrating for
the user. The user has to click a button EVERY time a chord change occurs.
Yuk!

As far as Reed Kotler's things go, I've heard good things about TR-400
(either here or from jazzguitar@...), but I haven't been too
thrilled about the Transcriber music study software. It doesn't seem very
intuitive to me, but then again I'm one of those people who hates to read
owner's manuals and tutorials. :-P

Like Alisdair, I would also be interested in anyone's opinion of DSChord
Finder 3.0, however, as there is no trial version available.

Check out our guitarmaster product. You can download a free demo of this
from our web page:

This works for stuff you play in directly into your PC from your guitar
via a pickup & sound card input. We are currently working on a new
version that will do imported WAV files, due out next year...
