IMO i would say your approach is ussually harder but also more likely to sound fresh than using fingerings but, thats not a given. It moslty is a individual thing ...wich ever way helps you understand

Hi Alan, I'm using a Roland Cube 60 (great amp BTW) and it has a closed back. Wit h a closed back amp, what is the best position for it ? I am right handed if that makes any difference. Thanks

One of the problems with most guitar amps is that they have an open back. The sound radiates from the back of the amp, not just the front and therefore moving the amp in front of you dosen't always

Oh they definitely exist. Get some ear molds taken by an audiologist, then send them to a company who makes the plugs. I can't for the life of me remember the name of the company, but the earplugs
