Charles.?
Thank you for the response. You are very observant, yes he has a plow blade for the tractor. It has pushed a bunch of snow thru the years and with the creeper gear was strong as a horse. I wish I would have gotten a picture of the tractor, it is a beautiful example of this model as he repainted and part restored it about 10 years ago. Re: 1969 Ford LGT120 PTO
From the picture of the front corner of the tractor and the clutch, that is ~1969 Ford.? If it says 100 on the hood sides it is a 10HP, if it says 120 it is a 12HP.? Looks like your cousins father also had a plow for it based on those 2 angle iron pieces sticking out the front.
I'm can tell you about tear down of the manual PTO from memory, but not the electric.? I do know it was a bit of an odd ball size/design, and all the generics you will find online wont' fit.? ? It can quite possibly be repaired, but it might be easier to just source a used one online. Lets see what other replies you get.? If none I can go into the dark corners of my basement and find one to take apart and study for you. CK |

1969 Ford LGT120 PTO
Happy New Year folks. I'm trying to help my cousin with his father's Ford tractor. His dad bought this new and I might be off on the year and I might be off on the model, but that is my best guess for now. Tractor is a gear drive, 10HP? Kohler. Engine sits cross ways on frame, not in line like the newer models. I've never seen an electric pto like this one has, it sits out on the end of the crank shaft and has a pin to keep it from turning. The electric part of pto works, but it looks like the pulley and clutch plate were attached together and

Still have the 2 speed hydrostatic rear end I wouldn't mind selling (funny that this one DOES NOT have a oil filter on it).? Also, I recently saw a youtube video about this style Jacobsen tractor stating the rear end has a limited slip differential - not sure if I believe that cuz I am pretty sure if I throw a tire chain when I'm snowblowing that I stop like RIGHT NOW and spin a tire. Anybody know for sure?? I guess I could try not being lazy about it and dig out my owners manual and see if it says anything about it. Randy Mc. Milford, Michigan Cell: 248 762 1441 |

Looks like it's missing the plastic T Handle on top (\something similar probably easily obtained thru Mcmaster - Carr) and whatever hardware needed to attach it to the missing cradle below. Won't charge anything if you're close enough to come get it yourself or have someone in the area that can do it for you. $20 plus shipping if I remove it and send it to you. Re: Link to Free LGT 165 in Waterford, Michigan - Marked pending for me
Well everyone, got it home today and upon closer inspection it doesn't appear to be a good candidate for restoration.? First off, although the engine turns freely the owner who operated this (not the guy I got it from - he got it from a neighbor) appears to have ran the engine without an air cleaner for a period of time.? Engine turns freely, maybe a bit too freely - with no compression at all.? I realize the Kohler engine has a centrifugal decompression cam but I'll have to check it against mine to compare.
I think it's a parts machine, so hit me up if anyone thinks they may be interested in anything. I won't want much for anything if you want to come get it yourselves. Say $50 for the snowblower assembly or the same for the rear end. Sheet metal is more or less straight but hood has rusted off it's hinge bracket and one lower peg in front of one of the side panels has rusted off as well. The rear edge of the fender pan is a bit tweaked but not bad. There's also a roughly home made weight box on the rear that holds a 5 gallon bucket of what looks to be iron shot (because it looks rusty). If it turns out to be lead (haven't checked yet) I'll keep the lead. But anyone can have the frame.? There is no lift cradle underneath, the previous owner made a bracket (first glance it appears to be bolted on) mounted to the snowblowers lift arm that attaches directly to the tractors hydraulic lift. Right now I am planning to keep the engine, rear wheel weights (still not sure if they are Jacobsen or some no-name brand) and the tire chains. Maybe the gas tank too unless someone needs one. It does not have a matching set of FRONT wheel hubs, looks like the the right side was recently replaced with a new off brand wheel and tire. If someone wants an item like the snowblower (worn and a bit bent on the top lip but not rusted out, appears to be saveable) or hydrostatic rear end shipped I'd want at least about another $100 for packaging up the snowblower onto a pallet and delivering it to the shipper. And probably another $150 for removing and palletizing the rear end. I also would probably only want to deal with shipping thru Fastenal because they are close to me and I've dealt with them before. You would have to be the originator and payor of the shipment at your Fastenal location. I can post pictures or make quick youtube videos if anyone is interested. |

He seems good and noted you're picking up Friday.? He even noted he was sorry and wanted gone in one go.? I don't have a trailer, only the long bed pickup with the 360 before they went to variable cylinder designs.? The Prius (I call Jeep) amazes me what I can haul with, so prefer to use.? If I get it I will look it over and make my final decisions from there.? Right now I am seriously considering parting it out so others can keep their LGT's going which I consider respecting it by keeping other LGT's going.? I know the one guy in Buffalo is looking for a snowblower and I already have one. If he's interested and we can agree on a price I can probably have it shipped to him via the Fastenal Store network for around $200 to $300. Like I said I don't care if you get it but don't be making me look bad, and if I get it I'm most likely going to making sure I compensate myself for my time and effort. |

I actually drove over to Madison WI area to get a pretty much free Ford LGT 42" Snowthrower that's the solid with a fat tube auger blade single stage design.? That and the subframe part.? I figured the gear box alone would be great to have and that subframe part since I was a little wishy washy about the snowthrower itself... though reads like works as a plow blade good when clogged.?? ?
