Fall 2022 SDSU Men’s Rugby Newsletter

Today, September 17th, 2022, the SDSU Men’s Rugby Club traveled to Fargo to take on the NDSU Lost Boys, despite having only 13 players due to injury. The Jackers decided to commence the league match despite facing an overwhelming 20 Lost Boys. Within 30 minutes of the match beginning, the Jackers were up 24-0. The phrase “All gas, no brakes” was coined and used as the slogan for the match. At the end of the first half, the Jackers were up 24-5. Starting the second half, the Jackers struggled and ran out of gas. The Lost Boys rallied and with four minutes left in the game were up 31-24. This did not stop the Jackers, however. The Jackers had a little bit left in their tanks, and secured a tie at 31-31 with two minutes left. By doing this, the Jackers defended and brought home the Dakota Marker. Against overwhelming odds, the Jackers are now tied for third place in league ranking with 2 points, behind Mankato with 4 points and UND or Winona (I don’t know who won yet). Next week, the Jackers potentially take on University of South Dakota in a few friendly sevens matches (If they decide to come. They are short on players). The week after, 10/1/2022, the Jackers travel to Duluth to take on the Bulldogs to progress in the division.
