Will there ever be another run of the board?
Hi John: Most people seem to have lost interest. I still have a few populated boards if you want one. The cost is $35 plus shipping. Let me know if you're interested. Jack, W8TEE

I guess the run is finished for the Jack AI board never to be repeated? I never heard of it till recently. Is there any other board for using a Teensy in a raduino? 73 John N4HNO |
All of the parts are on the board and it's the same board QRP Guys used to sell. To tell you the truth, I would not buy the board. Support is spotty and the web site is not at all active. Also, it's not an easy board to install into the BIX. I would look at the other BIX product uBITX, sBIX, truSDR, and some others before you buy. Jack, W8TEE

I am aware of that project. That is a bigger commitment than I have time for now. I was an electronics tech for years before getting into networking. I operate some qrp cw now and then. Some qrp phone. Chasing down a long list of components is not really what I want to do now. It looks amazing but realistically don’t think I should jump into a project that big. Improved response from the display and dds if the other board is a raduino replacement would be useful. Just trying to understand what exactly it gains and how hard is it to setup.

开云体育I know what it does.? I was part of the prototype group to test it.? I still have one on one of my uBITx machines.? It has its issues and its not the JackAl that has the problems. ? ? Can you explain? What exactly does it provide? What shortcomings? Does it improve the raduino performance? The ubitx is a basic transceiver. I’m not expecting commercial performance but does it improve the screen redraw? ?The nano was pushed to its limits. That’s why some went with the Nextion. I have heard of the Jack AI board but know little about it. From what I have read I think ?it had some dsp and cw decode and better performance with a simpler and cheaper lcd. I don’t really need cw decode. I am not really interested in SDR. I understand sdr is the future but I have seen more than enough digital in my job. I also don’t do FT8. Better filtering would be nice.? John N4HNO |
The JackAl did have better performance, but not enough. Some of your comments sound like you are referring to the T41-EP rig we designed. You can read more about it at Amazon B0D25FV48C It is a 20W CW/SSB rig with many features even the big rigs don't have. The cost is more (4 States QRP sell a semi kit--all SMD's are on the boards--for about $400), but it is a solid performer. You'd throw rocks at the JackAl by comparison. Check out our web site: /g/SoftwareControlledHamRadio for more info. Jack, W8TEE

开云体育I’ll try… ? Does it improve the raduino performance… not really… it improves the user interface for sure.? The raduino is really just a square wave generator with a basic interface so I really don’t think you can improve that per-se… besides going to a higher performance frequency generator… maybe a si570 or something better. ? The JackAL has a good graphic interface… its more nice than the crude/ toy-ish 16x4 character display.? The processor also has some really nice features coded into it like DSP, some frequency shaping, and morse decoding that is cool.? It also can do some simple band-stacking.? Oh it also has a new audio amp that sounds better than the original. ? However its lipstick on a pig. ? The uBITx is a demonstration of minimalistic use of parts to build something that functions.? Dual direction IF, it does have a crystal filter somewhat matched, pathetic audio, even worse frequency gain response (40W on 40M and 2W on 80M… I worked quite a bit to fix the IF chain and RF Output sections to fix this… you will find a boat load of articles from Allison and myself on this very topic.? I still have hundreds of simulations of the thing to fix such issues.? John: FWIT, both Al and I are using Bill's 20W PA for our own personal T41 builds. You can fire up the T41, set it to CW mode, put a brick on the key, go on vacation for two weeks, come back and it will still be working perfectly and cool as a cucumber. Jack, W8TEE

The four states qrp group ran their first batch. Who knows if or when there will be another. Sounds interesting but I don’t really have the time. Just so I understand, how does the Jack ai board connect to a ubitx v6? Is it just vfo and bfo and ptt? ? Is there a document that describes the installation in the files somewhere? The stock radunio acts like it can be tuned faster than it can respond and end up on a frequency far away from where it started or there is some speed sensitive tuning? The display on mine may show LSB highlighted. I press CW and LSB is still highlighted at times. CPU too busy drawing the screen to keep up?
