My work on the touchscreen issue #jackal

No news yet, but I did put a few hours into it today to get an initial clean install of the arduino IDE and trying a couple of changes.

Jack if you don't mind, can I email you with a few questions regarding the normal operation of the JackAl?

Sure. You should also cc Al (AC8GY) as he's the EE genius behind things.

Jason, please keep me in the loop. I'm out of action until mid next week moving but will re-engage after unpacking...

Worked on it yesterday but not today due to workload.
I made some progress but no cure or smoking gun yet.
Working on understanding the library and trying a few things to see what effect they have.
I need to verify some observations that I've made and I'll report here at that time.

Hope to have a chance to work on it this weekend.
73 and cheers!

I cheated the calibration point at the far right by touching to the right of the point and that seems to have helped getting the touch points within the buttons.

Joe, my question for you (and anyone else with this issue) is if the buttons on the left of the screen are better at recording touches within the button bounds that the ones on the right.
On my JackAl it seems that that is the case.?

In other words the touches seem to be shifted to the left.
I've uploaded to youtube a new video "JackAl fudged calibration" demonstrating the current behavior.
There are still some issues and this might be a goose chase still.
I'll see if I can figure out in the DisplayCalibration.cpp where I might be able to apply a skew to the right for touch points or if there may be a bug in that point's calibration.

Jason, yes that was my experience, e.g. touch usb/cw and rit would be sensed. Saw similar but worse performance on band select vs. your video - whatever you changed seems directionally correct for root cause determination. Still wondering what could have changed as it was my understanding that some previous combination of s/w and libraries worked with the 5¡± touch screen. If that is incorrect then all bets are off in terms of assuming any given component is known good.

Roger Joe.
Sorry for the silence from my end.
I'm WFH still and the workload multiplied unexpectedly this last couple of weeks so it hasn't left me much in the way of free time.
I'm going to try to get some time this weekend if possible.

Cheers everyone.
