JackAl Parts Kit

As I look into ordering the miscellaneous parts for my JackAl board it becomes obvious quickly that ordering parts in some quantity makes sense. It would seem that ordering parts for 10 kits may make sense if I can get 9 others to buy into this idea.?

Specifically, I am only talking about the parts on the first page of the parts list. I might add some RG174 or RG316 as well. The other parts are probably more easily handled by each of us on our own depending on what we want.

I would like to package a complete set of parts to keep things simple even though I and most likely others have some parts on hand already. I'm not doing this as a business but simply to keep costs down.

Expected cost(including shipping(US only unless convinced otherwise) will be what it costs me- no profit(and thus no guarantees/returns/etc.) and hopefully minimal hassle.

If you want to join my buy, please contact me. If there is enough interest, I will order parts this weekend.?
?
Thanks,

Mark

Glad to see this, Mark, and it makes sense. Al and I investigated quantity discounts on both the display and the Teensy/audio boards, but (as I recall), there was only a 3% discount on the display and not much more on the PJRC products. It simply wasn't worth the effort.

However, when our builder's group ordered the JackAl board, I ordered enough parts to get the 25-count discount on a number of the parts and that does make a difference. Also, it never hurts to ask any vendor, big or small, for a quantity discount. Vendors like Digikey, Mouser, Arrow, etc. usually show their discounts. Tayda Electronics does and we use them a lot because they have a distribution center in CO so common parts arrive fairly quickly. eBay vendors will also entertain discounts, just ask.

I wish you well in this effort!

Some of us, living in the extreme corners of the world (at least it seems that way) have no local source of parts. Also, because of choosing to move to this corner, and not wishing to pay to move 50 years of Ham junk boxes across the continent, I have no parts inventory to speak of. ?So, yes, please let's make a group buy that will make an old geezer on a fixed income smile like a contented cow in a pasture of bulls.

Been ordering parts all morning, also bought quantities of everything but the display and teeney. Will have spares once everything arrives. (10m each of the coax types).
Let me know?

I bought 50 of the transformers for my builder's group for around $21, including shipping. In 100 unit quantities, the cost was less than $0.35 each. In single-lot quantities, they are almost always over $2 each. Bulk buy and sell for $1 each and the buyer is still getting a half-price deal!

I am up to 11 in the build group so far, so it is a go. I will be sending a group email out to confirm I got everyone that wants in. If anyone else wants in you probably have until Monday as that is most likely when I will do the ordering. Also, as this is a new project and I am seeing some discrepancies in information I would ask anyone with important information or insight- errata, best pricing source, etc. to forward that to me to consolidate. Multiple eyes should help keep us on the straight and narrow.

Thanks,

Mark

Mark:

This is going to turn into an accounting nightmare for you. As a suggestion: Why not order the max you can afford right now (e.g., 50, 100?), order the parts, and we will put an "Off-board Parts for Sale" ad with a paragraph description, contact info, and price for you on our site. You may find price breaks at 50 or 100 that don't exist at 25 units which could benefit everyone.?

Your call...
