Please excuse me if this has been covered, but is there some sort of diagram or photo to show the way the teensy and audio board are mounted on the headers? I haven't reached that stage with the build but can't find pics covering this

Let's see if I have this correct.? When mounting the Teensy and its audio board, (1)? then starting with the JackAl board, insert standard female headers in the holes for the Teensy, including the 5 transverse holes between holes 27 and 38 and the parallel holes near 2 to 6, and for the holes for A11, A10, AREF and VUSB, (2) insert the long leggetty female headers into the Teensy board (4 x 10 pin sockets and 2 x 4 pin sockets are specified in the Bag O' Parts - enough for the outside holes of hte Teensy) insert standard male headers in all other Teens holes, and (3) insert standard male headers into the two rows of holes on the audio board. (4) This should allow the Teensy to be plugged into the JackAl, and the audio board to be plugged into the Teensy.

Jack, I really would appreciate your advice as to whether the above procedure for mounting the Teensy and its audio board is correct.? Yes I have studied your photo of your arrangement but it is essentially a top view and does not show anything under the Teensy board.? Soldering errors on expensive Teensy and audio boards are hard to correct. (Expensive when you add to freight to Downunder). 73 Kevin VK3DAP / ZL2DAP -- 73 Kevin VK3DAP / ZL2DAP |
Kevin: I leave tomorrow at 4AM for Hamkcation in FL, so I doubt if I'll get to this before next Monday when I return...sorry! Jack, W8TEE

Yes it was one and the same.. Kevin, you outlined the procedure as you saw it and needed confirmation of that.. I sort of need a dummies guide myself lol? I now think that if there is any likelihood of wanting to access other pins on the Teensy, we should probably follow the instructions of James Zdunic , KM4TXR, /g/JackAl/attachment/475/1/CPU%20PINS%20_2_.pdf. I now have the bits and pieces, but am a bit scared that I might make an expensive mistake!

Gentlefolk,
I have tried to nut out how to put the Teensy and its audio board together on the JackAl using James Zdunic, KM4TXR, CPU_Pins method of making more Teensy pins available to the experimenter.? I have created a folder WorkInProgress in the Photos section and have uploaded seven photos to it.? I hope one or two find it helpful.? Please let me know if you find any errors! 73 Kevin VK3DAP / ZL2DAP |
Gentlefolk,
I forgot to add that I had to butcher the heatsinks with my Dremel to get rid of the interference with the audio transformer and the excessive length of the heat sinks.? The smaller ones (for the voltage regulators) come pre drilled and tapped for M3 bolts, so, once the interferences were cut and filed away, they fitted very easily. -- 73 Kevin VK3DAP / ZL2DAP |
