Free agency (JAG and DABB)
5
Hey, Dev. As we approach another free agency period in JAG, I wondered if there was any possible tweak we could do to the process. As has happened on a couple of occasions in both JAG and DABB, guys have over-extended contract-wise because of the process. You need a SP and put in max bids on 4 or 5 hoping to get one. Same with catchers or any other position. Then you find out you landed 3 or 4 max contract guys and that puts you over, forcing you to unload guys to get under the cap. Maybe even leaving you in violation of the constitution which says the minimum for rosters is 25 players. Would there be a way we might add another step to the process and allow us to "rescind" offers after the fact, which would allow us to get back under the cap easier? The player could then go to the next-best offer on the board. As it is usually 'max-offer' players that cause the problems, the player would still find a home with the next-best offer. Maybe the cost of a mid-round draft pick could serve as a penalty for rescinding an offer. Make it hurt a little bit but not as much as having to "dump" contracts through lop-sided trades. Just a thought. Larry Ridgeway Ridge's REK/Canton Comets HOFfridge 330-575-1508 PS I know some of you are in both leagues and I apologize that you received this twice. Sent from Outlook

[dabb] Free agency (JAG and DABB)
There cant be achange in the current FA peroid but we can look at a change. I have had many conversations about the free agency process and am open to adjusting it but I really have to also consider the amount of work it will add to my load. Maybe lowering the minimum roster to 20 for JAG as is for DABB would help. Allowing teams to resind offers and then going back and giving those players to the next highest bidder would require more work and time have to award all the FAs then wait to see who everyone decides they dont want and then going back to the next highest bid and so on until someone takes him. Do this for each player could add several days to the process. Another option would be to split the FAs into 2 or 3 groups and foing each group separately so you know who you get in the first group before bidding on group 2 or 3. This would also add severals days to the processbut not as much of a work load. There is still the potential for issue if say all the good SPs end up in the same group. I am sure there are more ways to do it and if anyone wants to write a mew way to do it and send it to me I will consider anything. For JAG the best option might be to remove the 5 year max abd adopt the DABB and MYT model. Not that it means anything but when setting up the free agency my plan was to put the responsibility on the GM to manage their rosters and contracts, and if they over bid on players the penalty would be the fact that they have to trade players that they might not wanted to trade. There have been a few times guys have severly over bid on players they won but they always seem to find a way under the cap. Dev

1966 JAG playoffs
The regular season is in the books and the playoffs are loaded. All 3 of the franchises that have won the World Series are in the playoffs. Round 1 features a rematch of last year's Foxx division championship series between the Bristol Stateliners(47-24) v the Ann Arbor River Rats(42-39), Bristol is home in games 1,2, and 5. In the Ott division we have a familiar matchup between longtime rival franchises Ridge's REK(46-35) will battle Pittsburgh(36-45) Ridge will host games 1,2, and 5. Pittsburgh(formerly Hoboken) swept Ridge in 1963 in the opening round of the playoffs and Ridge returned the favor in 1964 with a sweep. Last year they met for the 3rd straight year before Pittsburgh won the series in 4 games and in 1966 they will battle again. Umpires are on high alert and pitchers will be warned before the series begins. Sparktown(54-27 best single season record) dominated this season and will be waiting for the winner of the Bristol, Ann Arbor series. Kville(49-32) won its 2nd regular season Ott title and awaits either Ridge or Pittsburgh. Good luck to all the playoff teams, while the rest of us start working on free agency. Dev
