Upcoming Free agency
Hello all Congratulations?to our World Champion Joel and to Bob for a great series and season. How will Free Agency work? 1. I will be sending out a list of all available free agents. 2. Each general manager will submit a list of the free agents they wish to sign and for how many years they want to sign them for. You may bid on as many players as you want but be very careful not to overextend yourself because you are committed to sign all the FA's you win. Remember you have limited contract years available and the draft?will start shortly after free agency ends. How are the winners determined? 1 the team that offers the FA the most years will sign him. 2 TIES if the tie bid is between 1-4 years he will resign with his original team as the Hometown discount. IF his previous team is not one of the tied teams then all the tied teams will have a chance to offer up a draft pick in the upcoming draft. The earliest pick offered will sign him and forfeit?the pick. 3 If the bid is 5 years or the final years of the?player's career the hometown discount does not apply and the winner will be determined by draft picks offered. 4 you may only bid upto the players final year. If the last year of a player's career is 1968 the max bid allowed would be 3 years. If you end up with too many players or contract years you will have to make some trades to get back to 85 years by opening day. Let me know if you have any questions Dev |

1965 post season awards
Thanks to Brian for reviewing the choices (spreading the blame in case the committee made any egregious errors). Most of you know the drill by now - for Fireman, Cy Young and MVP, vote for two players in order of preference. For the All-Stars, same thing at every position, except please vote for six outfielders, numbered 1-6. Thanks and good luck in the draft! JAG 1965 MVP ballot.xlsx

Mel Ott tie-breaker

Jaster Gem and Longballs
K'VILLE-- Game 82 featured a pitchers' duel between the REK's Larry Jaster and Joe Horlen of the home-standing Cruisers. The two hurlers took the game to the through the sixth?inning scoreless before Horlen was lifted for a pinch-hitter. Reliever Ted Abernathy
took the ball in the seventh inning and gave up the first run of the contest as Willie Stargell reached the right-field seats with a bomb to make it 1-0 REK. The visitors extended the lead in the 8th?as Bobby Richardson reached on error to start
the inning and Joe Torre launched a two-run shot off of reliever Billy O'Dell to make it 3-0. Torre had three of the seven REK hits. Bob Skinner made it 4-0 with a 2-out blast. Meanwhile the Cruisers, winners of 10 of their last 11 outings to force the extra
game, were out of gas as Jaster held them hitless while allowing just three walks in the contest. The REK will advance to face the Hoboken Zephyrs in the Ott wild card series.?

Thanks Dev. Playoff usage restrictions are in the constitution on the website. Remember, for hitters, its games played, not plate?

1965 PLAYOFFS
81 games wasn't enough for Ridge REK and Kville, they will play a 1 game playoff at Kville. Hoboken will face the winner of Kville and Ridge in the Mel Ott division semi finals. Pleasanton had the most wins in the league and will play the winner. In the Jimmie Foxx division Ann Arbor and Spartown will play with the winner getting a chance to play Bristol in the division championship, Good luck to all the playoff teams and congratulations to everyone on a great season.
