1986 Vanden Plas project available for donation

From Willard Keeney I own a 1986 Vanden Plas. It's not currently operable -- failed piston. My mechanic says it requires a replacement engine. I would be interested in donating the car to anyone in the associate group who would want it, either for restoration or for parts. Can you advice me if there is any interest? If interested please contact Willard at wfkeeney@.... If not adopted the car is dues to go to Jaguar Heaven.

Dear J.A.G. Members, Below is the obituary of J.A.G. Past President, Richard Halk. Richard was J.A.G.¡¯s President in the years 2013-2016 and the JAGazette Editor for many years. Richard hosted J.A.G. events at his ranch in Single Springs and led drives along little known roads and bridges around Placerville. The celebration of life for Richard will be held on Saturday 12/28/24 at 12:00pm at Freedom Church, 4414 Commodity Way, Cameron Park, CA 95682. Richard¡¯s family are hoping that J.A.G. members who knew Richard will be able to join the event. OBITUARY Richard Lee Halk OCTOBER 7, 1944 ¨C DECEMBER 1, 2024 In remembrance of Richard Lee Halk With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our Patriarch Richard Lee Halk, former owner of Halk Equipment Rentals in Shingle Springs and R&R Equipment Rentals in Placerville (1976-1981). In 2022, Richard retired and sold Halk Rentals. Richard, know as ¡°Rich¡± to everyone, was full of love, laughter, and resilience, and touched the lives of all who knew him. Rich had a huge heart and was known to be generous, always willing to help others and was quick to offer a second chance to anyone trying to straighten out their life. Richard Lee Halk was was born to McConnell and Laura Halk (Drews) in Dodge City Kansas on October 7, 1944 and entered into the glory of God¡¯s kingdom on December 1, 2024. A long time resident of El Dorado county, Richard attended El Dorado High School and graduated in 1963. After graduating, Rich found work in the construction industry, building dams throughout California, and also worked on the BART Trans-Bay tube that connects San Francisco and Oakland under the San Francisco Bay. From his marital union to Roberta DeLaCruz he had four children, John, Karen, Sharon, and Michelle. In 1987, he married Carol Ann Stafford and took on the role of step father to Carol's children Troy, Daniel, Ronald and Jan. Rich and Carol enjoyed traveling and just being together every chance they got. Rich later cared for Carol at their home after she endured a massive brain aneurysm left her bed ridden and comatose for nearly 12 years, until her death in 2008. Rich was fond of Jaguar¡¯s and purchased a 2008 XJ8 convertible. He was active with the Jaguar Associates Group, a Bay Area car club. He planned many club drives, and enjoyed leading club members through the winding scenic roads of El Dorado county. Rich was also the editor of the club¡¯s newsletter ¡°The Jag Gazette¡± and at one point became the President of the club. In 2004, Rich purchased the B.O.B. Ranch on Lotus Road where he hosted many weddings and events for his family and friends. Rich loved to share the history of the property being a stagecoach stop during the gold rush and that the driveway used to be old Lotus Road. In 2023, Rich accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his lord and savior, and was baptized by his brother Bob. Rich is survived by his brother Robert ¡°Bob¡± Halk of El Dorado CA and sister Barbara Ludwig of St. Louis MO, his son John Halk of Sacramento, CA and daughters Karen Cervantes of Merced, CA and Sharon Halk of Alliance, NE. Rich was also grandfather to Amber Merical of Herald, CA; James Halk of San Jose,CA; Ashley Guizar of Merced, CA; Thomas Cervantes of Las Vegas, NV; Elizabeth Cervantes of Merced, CA; Daniel Halk of Hawaii; Martin Valadez of Alliance, NE and Andrea Richards of Alliance, NE, Justin Hodgkin of Sacramento, Andrew Alfonso of Placerville and Marlene Bercham of Tennessee..as well as numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, step children, step grand children and step great grandchildren spread out throughout the country. Rich is preceded in death by wife Carol Halk; mother of his children, Roberta Halk, daughter Michelle Hodgkin (Curtis Hodgkin) and granddaughter Jessica Cervantes. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday 12/28/24 at 12:00 at the following location: Freedom Church 4414 Commodity Way Cameron Park, CA 95682

I've unexpectedly found myself named executor to my younger cousin who unexpectedly passed away in August. In the garage of his Berkeley home there are two defunct Jaguars. One looks like a MK Saloon, maybe 1962 or earlier? The other is a sport car, maybe a 1950s XK? I could send you photos; you'd no doubt be much more adept at identifying the models. So far I haven't found keys, pink slips, or any other useful paperwork, but I'm trying to clear out and renovate the house for sale. These two cars have obviously spent decades under tarps in a Berkeley garage, but might be of interest to someone who wanted Jaguars to restore, or for parts. What would you advise for next steps for dealing with these Jaguars? Who would I contact about this sort of thing? Where could I advertise or publish a classified about them? And how would I determine value? If you (or some other enthusiast) would like to see them, I usually visit the house on Saturdays; alternatively I could take photos (let me know what parts of the cars would be best to focus on) and email them to you.
